After being shunned by Obama, Orbáns meeting with Trump is to focus on bilateral relations
After years of receiving the cold shoulder from Washington, Hungarys nationalist prime minister, Viktor Orbán, will visit the White House to meet Donald Trump on 13 May.
Hungarian authorities announced the visit on Thursday morning. Orbáns spokesman Zoltán Kovács wrote on Twitter that energy security, defense cooperation, bilateral relations and regional security would be on the agenda.
Today all I can say is that they have invited us and we have accepted the invitation, said Orbán, when he was asked about the meeting during a joint press conference with Italys interior minister, Matteo Salvini, in Budapest on Thursday.

Is Hungarian not based on Latin or Greek?
One of two guys with a clue
The other is in Poland
aldd — bless (asking to bless)
God bless the Hungarians — it’s a hymn.
Isten aldd meg a magyart...
The maniacs’ heads will explode!!
Not even. It’s crazy. Makes no sense at all.
“Is Hungarian not based on Latin or Greek?”
No, Hungarian is in a class of its own.
But it isn’t that hard to learn, it’s just different from most other languages. But once you learn the basics, not so bad.
Its the first line of the Hungarian anthem which is basically a prayer. Aldd would be bless as the line says God bless the Hungarians or God bless Hungary.
Well done, DJT. I love Orban. Trump too.
Are there similarities between the Hungarian and Finnish languages?
Hungarian was put into the “finno-ugric” language group, but I don’t think they are similar. More like they didn’t know what to do with either language, so they grouped them together.
Many thanks for the translation.
Can't do it now, but shall send you one of Petofi's most famous poems: HUNGARIANS SHALL NOT BE SLAVES. It's rousing and all about freedom.
Thanks...”aldd” was a missing word in my Magyar understanding. I’m not fluent; except when it comes to food and a few other areas.
Yes; but they aren’t similar; they just come from the same base.
You need to read the Gods, Graves, etc. threads. There’s some similar DNA in the Hungarians and the Finns.
Excellent news.
Just don’t ask Lisa to make spaghetti. Nor her mother.
One episode I still remember a bit.
The other was the house “pores” which required a “pore key” but the “pore keyhole spring” was busted. They needed a new one.
And then there was Arnold the pig who could predict the weather (tail turned blue for cold).
My pop was from Hungary. He wouldn’t teach us any Hungarian, but I have heard it is a VERY difficult language to learn.
Too bad these countries (Italy, Hungary) are totally fine though with Chinese infiltration, Russian, and Turkish.
My great great grandparents were Hungarian, but by the time my grandma came along, everyone was just speaking English, mostly, with some Hungarian words here & there. So I know some Hungarian, but am not fluent in it. And I dont know if its difficult to learn, because what I do know, I learned right along with English.
