Not surprising. At the end of the last glaciation CO2 levels were down to 180 ppm. At 150 ppm nearly all plant species start dying off.

In the last 10,000 years or so, the CO2 level has risen to 400ppm. When the earth isn’t in an ice age, CO2 levels are over 1000ppm. Most of the food plants we depend on optimize their growth at 1000ppm.

In spite of colder temperatures, the increasing CO2 levels will continue to encourage plant growth.

They take it in and release oxygen in return.

Although we all understand the value of oxygen for humans, Oxygen is not even the major component of our ground level atmosphere. It's Nitrogen. What produces the Nitrogen ?

Yep. The question that always causes AGW flat earthers to go into fits is this: Why is global warming bad?

Sure, they bring up stuff like florida, but what about Greenland, and the sahara, and Siberia. Imagine oranges in Seattle, wine in finland, and corn in Siberia. Maybe Russia could get on with making world renouned whiskey!

Can it regreen the African and Asian deserts?

Yes.
Further, the higher the CO2 levels, the more drought-resistant the plants are.

Now, the Sahara edges are greener, but as more plants live in the dry ground, more water is kept (more shade) near the edges and so the area of all deserts is growing less.

I mildly dispute the claim of “50% greater growth” made in the excerpt above: The increase in plant growth actually varies between the G3 and G4 type plants. But EVERY plant, algea, fungi, grass, wheat, seaweed, barley, oat, oak, pine, and rice plant on earth is growing between 12% and 28% faster, higher, taller, wider, and more productively than ever in the last 2000 years of low CO2 levels.

If an air sample from 1970 was compared to one today, I suspect it would be identical.

I don’t believe there is significantly more carbon dioxide in the air we breathe.

No, humans are releasing stored CO2 from the ground into the atmosphere. Today's 410 ppm levels are partially man-released, partially earth-released. CO2 levels are increasing as ocean temperatures warm (a natural reaction), but also by our production of the world's energy for farming, shipping, storing, processing, and preserving and distributing and cooking food, clothing, and shelter.

Without fossil fuels, some 6 billion are immediately condemned to death. The rest are living as they did in the Dark Ages, Equatorial Africa, and in the slave-and-dog-fueled American Stone Age. (Er, pre-Columbian, pre-oil)

And it also means that less burning of fossil fuels for heating would be needed.

Well, duh. I learned that back in chemistry. Or was it biology? Anatomy? Anyway, anybody with at least two functioning IQ points knows this.

Which, I guess, is why it escapes liberals.

“The more CO2 we release into the atmosphere, the more nutrients are available for plants, and the more rapidly the Earth is re-greened.”

Ah, but that is only half the cycle. Every plant is also sucking carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and trapping it within its cells as it grows. For some plants that carbon will be released annually as the plant dies and rots, but for plants with long lifespans like trees that carbon won’t return to the atmosphere for decades or even centuries.

It’s one of the feedback loops that help the planet self-regulate against changes in temperature and maintain stability. Other similar mechanisms include the trapping and releasing of carbon in rocks and in the oceans, and the glaciation cycles. Alarmists like to point to short term changes in any of these areas and then extrapolate them out to make absurd conclusions, while ignoring that these are natural cyclical processes that just mean the planet is working as intended.

“The idiotic idea of building a machine to draw CO2 from the air is the most stupid yet.”

Well, especially since the planet is already filled with machines that draw C02 from the atmosphere, with zero energy cost to us, more efficient than anything we can possibly hope to design. They are called “plants”.

You know this is going to have the pseudo city slicker Environmentalists, that cannot skin a buck or run a trotline, into complete meltdown mode.

Now who’s the science denier?

Saying that CO2 makes plants grow is not likely to get you a new grant!

Yup. Hopefully Trump is changing all that.

Oddly enough, that was my hypothesis about the “rising CO2 levels” over 20 years ago.

The reason the trees, grasses, flowers, weeds, etc. were dying out was because we had such a low level of CO2, which is what they need to thrive. More CO2 would mean more plant-life to “scrub” the environment, which means the plants put out more O, which is what we need to live. It’s a real, full, ecosystem we got here, bubs.

This 3 min Australian video puts carbon dioxide in perspective.

You get the whole message in the first 30 seconds.

Carbon Dioxide is plant food. They take it in and release oxygen in return.

So, Carbon Dioxide is LIFE?

You can’t argue with them because they have been told not to listen to anyone else, because, “They’ll be lying to you.”

These brain-trusts buy into that plan.

They are mentally incapable of listening to two ideologies, and making an intelligent choice of which, or even a combination of them to believe.
