The pressure campaign worked. The prosecutor general, long a target of criticism from other Western nations and international lenders, was soon voted out by the Ukrainian Parliament.
Among those who had a stake in the outcome was Hunter Biden, Mr. Biden’s younger son, who at the time was on the board of an energy company owned by a Ukrainian oligarch who had been in the sights of the fired prosecutor general.

She wasn’t ‘socialist’ enough and plenty of these socialist Dems sat on their hands and didn’t vote for her. Her other problems... Bill Clinton, and a criminal investigation.
So plenty of middle of the road Dems (fed up with 8 years of Obama socialism and fed up with Bill and Hillary) ended up voting for Trump.
Those Democrats could return to the fold if Biden wins... But he won’t... They’ve gone too far and Biden doesn’t stand a chance. Trump making him the focus is a genius move... It will encourage middle of the road Dems that Biden is their savior and enrage the socialist wing that supports Bernie and other ultra-left candidates. When Biden loses... Those middle of the road Dems will have only one candidate they can look to... Trump.

These people are desperate to see Joe Biden beat Trump, so they will ignore ANYTHING negative about Biden, however remotely connected.

I somewhat agree, but the usual course on an issue like this would be for the NYT to bury it.
But this is a solid, straightforward story like the NY Times of another era.
Now someone else in this thread is suggesting the NYT believes Biden can’t beat Trump.
I’m all ears at this point. The article stands out as a wonderment. And we may not know it’s true meaning till later on.
Will the rest of the media also highlight this story. If they do, then the Fake News is clearly trying to bring Biden down. IMHO.

It is a (rather clumsy) attempt to inoculate Biden of charges that are and will continue to be brought against him by rattling the “T”-word in the faces of the foaming Left. It is completely full of loaded distortions of any of the facts.
So, there is nothing “solid” or “straight-forward” about it.
