Activists Are Trying To Force Mastercard To Cut Off Payments To The Far Right
Buzzfeed ^ | 5/01/19 | Mark Di Stefano

Activists have successfully forced Mastercard to hold a vote by shareholders on a proposal which, if passed, could see the company monitoring payments to global far-right political leaders and white supremacist groups.

The proposal aims to see Mastercard establish an internal “human rights committee” that would stop designated white supremacist groups and anti-Islam activists, such as Tommy Robinson, from getting access to money sent from donors using the company’s card payment services.

It’s been conceived by US-based political activists SumOfUs, who want to escalate the battle against white supremacists and far-right groups from tech platforms like Facebook, Google, Twitter, Patreon, and PayPal to one of the biggest companies in world finance, in an attempt to choke off donations.

What, exactly, is a “far-right activist”? I’ve never seen one described. What I *have* seen, however, is that radical leftist thugs are often called “far-right”, but only if their behavior is so egregious that even the other leftists want to distance themselves.

I’d like to see violent far-left thugs be defunded.

It was only a matter of time until it got to this point. The Left will ostracize, starve, and, if necessary, kill you.

Time for financial neutrality - banks and credit card processors and companies cannot restrict the flow of money based on political beliefs.

Just like the left wants for net neutrality.

Of course, this is an effort loaded with parameters that can be tweaked at will.

Cryptocurrency payments would pretty much nullify that strategy.

Incidentally, the founder of SumOfUs, Taren Stinebrickner-Kauffman, was involved with Aaron Swartz of SecureDrop, who was arrested for breaking into MIT computers.

Pod people...

Those who are advocating this should be charged with sedition and breach of pubic peace because we will certainly be forced to go to war at some point for these abuses.

CEOs and corporate board members who sign off on politicizing the public corporations they run—especially in the highly-regulated banking industry—should face severe criminal penalties for malfeasance, fraud, and fiduciary negligence.

A company making some charitable contributions for PR or political lobbying due to corporate interests are both far different from politically weaponizing a company. In the first cases, there could be a reasonable profit motive. In the second, they are actually harming the bottom line of the companies they run and robbing shareholders in order to further their own personal agendas. This is no different than embezzlement or stealing from the company. These companies do not belong to them. They are stewards of the shareholders. Plus, there are consumer protections and interstate commerce regulations. These are the people who should be getting the midnight raids and having their attorneys’ offices ransacked—because they are operating like criminal enterprises.

Further, they should be publicly identified and doxxed so that they can be properly remembered during CW2. All of them have bunkers they plan to go to when civil unrest occurs, but someone should be waiting for them at these supposedly secret locations. They should be made to pay dearly for the harm they have done. Same goes for the Deep State underground facilities that have been built and supplied using a combination of black ops money and off-the-books tax dollars. They should be turned into prison camps for the traitors while they wait to be executed for their crimes or face hard labor to repay their debts to society.

Can Visa and American Express be far behind? And then, the same logic can apply to all of our bank accounts.

Yes! And as always, far too many conservatives don't see it coming or don't care. Conservatives allowed Leftists to take over the schools years ago. We've let them take over the primary management of the internet. The financial sector is next.

China is utilizing "social credit" scores to determine which Chinese citizens will be allowed to participate in society. Those that fail will lose their ability to earn an income. This is absolutely a major issue that must be challenged and stopped.

So let’s get this straight...

They are trying to stop the flow of money to the far right...

OK...by reasonable deduction

They are also telling us we can’t spend our money as we see fit. Let that sink in for a moment.

Sad that the radical left is forcing major companies to choose political sides, “or else”.
