FULL TITLE: US cop is found guilty of third-degree murder and manslaughter after he shot dead Australian woman Justine Damond in her pyjamas
The US cop who shot dead an unarmed Australian woman in her pyjamas outside her home has been found guilty of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
A jury of ten men and two women reached a verdict on Tuesday in the trial of former Minnesota police officer Mohamed Noor after three weeks of testimony. The jurors were sequestered.
Noor, 33, was charged with murder and manslaughter in the 2017 death of Justine Ruszczyk Damond, a dual citizen of the U.S. and Australia.
Damond, 40, was shot shortly after she called 911 to report a possible sexual assault behind her home.

I thought the same thing the first time I read the title. After re-reading it, though, I just thought it was poorly written, and didn’t read like he shot someone who was already dead.
No, it’s not just you. Since it would have been just as easy to say ‘after he killed Australian,’ we’re either dealing with an idiot or, more likely, someone who thinks his way will get more clicks.
The identities of the jurors is confidential - for some very good reasons. A guilty verdict puts all of them at risk of retaliation from the Somali community.
I would expect that one of his grounds for appeal will be that he was not tried by a jury of his peers.

Damand's father, John Ruszczyk, said he felt in the wake of his daughter's death, there were three requisites of a civilized society:

Seems they both fled hellhole Somalia "in fear"
and spent time in a Kenyan refugee camp before landing in Minnesota.
