Now, that is a GREAT name!
Jakarta is sinking man, and I don’t wanna swim.
They better be careful how they handle the move.
They could tip the whole island over if they don’t do it right.
That’s what happens when your country consists of 17,000+ islands.
Jakarta is a huge city (10 million)...
moving it won’t be easy, but I bet they CAN do it if they start now (50 years of politicians talking... no movement on the ground...?)
Great
Move it and everyone gets names that are shorter and easier to pronounce...
They blew it. If they had claimed it was sea level rise, President BeatOff would get the US to pay for the move in 2021.
Sounds like President Joko Widodo is all in regarding the Chinese Road. He’ll make millions while subjecting Indonesia to financial ruin, just like it has happened to other countries.
You can't makes this stuff up!..............
It’s sinking and they have until 2050. AOC says we only have 12 years and Beto says 10 until we’re doomed.
Krakatoa: East of Java
Cue the global warming, sea level rising, propaganda in 4, 3, 2, 1 ....
NO.
Land is going down. Not sea up.
Jakarta faces massive challenges. As the BBC has reported, it’s the fastest-sinking city in the world, with almost half of its area below sea level.

At least the Indonesians recognize this and are not sticking their heads in the sand but are taking APPROPRIATE and responsible action.
I cant say the same about our approach to New Orleans which is also sinking with large portions of the city already below sea level. Folks need to realize why New Orleans was called the Crescent City and not the Large Bowl Below Sea Level city. Eventually, the parts of New Orleans that are below sea level will actually be below water. Weve been spending BILLIONS to delay that inevitability.
Could be worse. The island/city may be sinking but at least it’s not — as Hank Johnson (Leftist-GA) once said of Guam — tipping over.
What a bunch of dummies. The city isn’t sinking. It’s the rising sea level that’s at fault.
Jakarta and Venice have always been sinking...
