Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, beset from all sides with criticism over his role in the probe of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential race, is resigning.

Rosentstein submitted his resignation letter to President Trump on Monday, effective May 11, The Wall Street Journal reported. Rosenstein's designated successor, Jeffrey Rosen, a favorite of Attorney General William Barr, is awaiting a likely confirmation by the Senate.

My guess is that it would be impossible for him to continue in the position after the Comey report comes out.

A very interesting character. He fired Comey, but made sure Mueller was launched, protected and even encouraged.

Quitting won’t inoculate him from prosecution.

No, there is some kind of report on Comey coming out in a week or so. I don’t know the details.

He deserved to be fired. Phony Obstuction of Justice charges against Trump caused Barr to wisely keep him on as cover for the redaction process.

Then he was fired. Not officially but fired nevertheless. If Trump/Barr had begged him to stay he would have (IMHO) jumped at the chance keep his job.

As I said a few days ago, he’ll be allowed to slither out the back door after his meeting with Trump on AF1.

Maybe someone outside government is telling him what to do. Maybe more than one someone.

If you think Rosenstein is a “white hat” I got nothing for you.
