House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn (D-S.C.) on Sunday offered a sharp rejoinder to President Trumps lauding of Robert E. Lee as a great general, noting that Trump always said that he hated losers.
The fact of the matter is, Robert E. Lee was a great tactician, Clyburn said on ABC Newss This Week, then added, Was not a great person. Robert E. Lee was a slave owner and a brutal slave master. Thankfully, he lost that war. And I find it kind of interesting that the president is now glorifying a loser. He always said that he hated losers. Robert E. Lee was a loser.
On Saturday, Trump defended his 2017 comment that there were very fine people on both sides of the white nationalist rally in Charlottesville. He argued that the media had misinterpreted what he said and that he was talking about people that went because they felt very strongly about the monument to Robert E. Lee a great general, whether you like it or not.
People were there protesting the taking down of the monument of Robert E. Lee. Everybody knows that, Trump said.
Clyburn said Sunday that Trump was expressing whats in his heart.
Trump has often said that he is not a fan of losers. As a presidential candidate in 2015, for instance, Trump criticized Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) for having been captured during the Vietnam War and for having lost his 2008 bid for the White House.
He lost, Trump said of McCain. He let us down. I never liked him as much after that because I dont like losers.

Well the Dems praise Hillary Clinton..a two time loser
Military institutions around the world study Lee’s campaigns and how they were conducted to this day!
As the saying goes, To win the war, you only have to win the last battle!
A lot can be learned from both “winners” and “losers”.
Agreed, Take Hillary for example. Now that is a loser!
Another racist Democrat who would have soiled himself on any Civil War battlefield weighs in...
Jimmy Clyburn and his pal Hank Johnson probably lie awake nights worrying about what will happen when Guam tips over...

James E. Clyburn = A’hole
Clymer and Hank Johnson should retire on guam, maybe it will tip over then due to manifest stupidity.
“Robert E. Lee was a slave owner and a brutal slave master. “
BS. Robert E. Lee inherited slaves through his wife and then freed them. I have not read any accounts of him being a “brutal slave master”.
Clyburn just demonstrating that he is a Clymer.
Clymer is thinking of the Democrat party when he projects “brutal slave-master.”
It was, however, the violence of the abolitionist solution that alarmed Lee, not a love for slavery itself. "In this enlightened age, there are few, I believe, but what will acknowledge, that slavery as an institution, is a moral & political evil in any country," he wrote his wife. The burden of the evil actually fell more to "the white than to the black race," since "the blacks are immeasurably better off here then in Africa, morally, socially & physically," and their "painful discipline" as slaves will "prepare & lead them to better things." What he dreaded was the disruption caused by a sudden and total emancipation of the slaves. It will accomplish nothing, Lee argued, for the abolitionist to "create angry feelings in the master [ ] if he means well to the slave," since the abolitionist has no more ground for interfering in the legal relations of masters and slaves than in any other "kind of interference with our neighbors when we disapprove their conduct." The "final abolition of human slavery is onward, & we give it the aid of our prayers & all justifiable means in our power," he wrote, but it is a process that cannot be rushed, and "will sooner result from the mild & melting influence of Christianity, than the storms & tempests of fiery controversy."ML/NJ
He was Lincoln’s first choice to command the Union army.
Trying to get a rise out of him.
To be fair, I would’ve probably soiled myself if I had had to fight on a Civil war battlefield as well.
“It was, however, the violence of the abolitionist solution that alarmed Lee, not a love for slavery itself.”
Lol.
It’s like all the “personally against abortion” Democrats and liberals who decry the violence of the pro-life cause.
Biden, Entire Senate Once Voted In Favor Of Restoring General Lees Citizenship

Biden said, “Great General. Stand up for General Lee.”
One thing that isn’t common knowledge today is that inheritance law was different then. Heirs were responsible for _both_ Debts and assets.
Today the deceased’s estate is responsible for debts, though not the heirs or children. They also had debtor’s prisons, both for what we would term unsecured credit today, and regular loans. Great Britain used to love to jack around interest rates. Also changing terms of the loan. Many of the founding framers or those who lived at the time lost their ass after having borrowed the currency of the day but being required to pay back in specie (gold). One of the reasons they absolutely forbade “Any Thing But Gold and Silver” as money in the constitution.
If one is born into either slavery or a slaveholder, there was a huge problem. Super easy 250 years later to spitball this stuff. Never trust a liberal. It isn’t the future we need to worry about, it’s the past that changes all the time. Don’t be fooled people.
