New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy on Friday ordered that the Mississippi flag, which carries a Confederate emblem, be replaced by the American flag at a state park that overlooks the Statue of Liberty.
Murphy ordered the removal of Mississippi’s flag from a display of each state’s flag at Liberty State Park, a preserve of more than 1,200 acres in Jersey City that overlooks Ellis Island and Lady Liberty.
Murphy is a first-term Democrat and a self-styled progressive who regularly cited the Emma Lazarus poem at the statue’s base that invites immigrants to America.
New Jersey, he said, is rooted in diversity, and the flag doesn’t fit.
“The Confederate symbol displayed on the Mississippi state flag is reprehensible and does not reflect our values of inclusivity and equality,” he said in a statement. […]

Moreover, the DUMB-bunny Governor of NJ needs to check out that OVER half of the Mississippi voters voted FOR the MS flag, including the majority of MS’s BLACK voters.
IF you believe that the WBTS was to “preserve slavery”, you need to do some SERIOUS reading from the ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS. = The War had LITTLE to do with slavery & several NORTHERN States continued to have human slavery until AFTER Richmond fell.
For starters, the VERY FIRST new CSA “regular Army unit” organized was an ALL BLACK Confederate Regiment of FREEMEN, with Black elected officers.= The Mississippi SABLES.
(Btw, less than two percent of CSA units were “regulars”; the other 98% were STATE, PRIVATELY-RAISED or what, in 2019, we would call LOCAL MILITIA on active duty. - Al, GA, FL & NC had smaller ALL BLACK units of FREEMEN, too.)
MOST Black Confederates fought in DESEGREGATED military units, throughout the WBTS.

I don't think this answers my question. If the Governor has the power to take away a flag, it would seem logical that he can also add one. How about a Rainbow flag; or a Nazi flag? Can he order the removal of all American flags now displayed on State property?

I am sure the Mississippi State Patrol Officers will want to stop every New Jersey tag, passing through, and do a full unload inspection for tainted fruit or vegetables crossing state lines. Just saying....

Maybe Murphy should ask himself why the people of his stupid state fought a war when Mississippi wanted to get the hell out of the country back in the 1860s.
