President Trump on Wednesday warned Mexico after their soldiers reportedly drew guns on U.S. troops at the border last week, while also calling on America's southern neighbor to do more to halt another north-bound migrant caravan.
“Mexico’s Soldiers recently pulled guns on our National Guard Soldiers, probably as a diversionary tactic for drug smugglers on the Border. Better not happen again! We are now sending ARMED SOLDIERS to the Border. Mexico is not doing nearly enough in apprehending & returning!” he tweeted.
The president’s tweets come after several Mexican military personnel reportedly questioned U.S Army soldiers who were on patrol duty near the border in Texas. Mexican soldiers reportedly pointed their weapons at U.S. troops during the encounter. The Mexican soldiers reportedly believed that the U.S. Army soldiers were on Mexican territory.

Most likely scenario is that the Mexicans were incorrect on where they thought the border boundary was located. Without a wall, there are no lines on the ground. Even the Border Patrol says that the area is very confusing. Further, our guys were in an unmarked vehicle.

One thing to bear in mind is that our peacetime ROEs are there to prevent minor skirmishes from starting a war. That is a decision that belongs soundly in the hands of national leadership - on those rare occasions like now when we actually have any.
Of course Mexico knows that they committed an act of war. Trump needs to scare them into fixing their problems. I ,am sure he has already communicated with el Presidente and this belated note is for public consumption.

Well, he told Syria not to do it again and when they did, over 50 Tomahawks destroyed Syrian facilities and airfields. You always send a warning first especially since no one was hurt.
Pompeo might want to remind the Mexican ambassador what happened in Syria after Trump warned them.

It’s hard for Americans to grasp how corrupt the Mexican authorities are — and were, long before the first drug cartel cropped up.
Today I heard some pundit speculating that these Mexicans were not actual soldiers.
They’re all on the take, down to the neighborhood cop. It’s baked in. Everyone understands.
It’ll happen again, of course. Somebody slipped up and it got reported.

It’s long past time to declare the Mexican Cartels to be terrorist organizations, and to deal appropriately with the Mexican government’s collaboration with them.

Drone strikes/artillery on the cartels and the military that defends them would be a nice development.
Declare the Mexican Drug Cartels are terrorist organizations, and deal with the Mexican government’s collaboration with them. Use the American military with orders to respond if fired at.
