One thing I need to get is a camera for my celestron scope.
What would the top telescope be in a 100K collection?
For easy transport a 25inch Obsession Dob. You can get bigger, but, you’d need to mount it on a trailer. I know of a guy who has a 36inch and have heard of a guy with a 75inch. Both need big flatbeds to transport.
I’ve a buddy with a 22inch Obsession. He has a small trailer he carries it in. Takes him about 1/2 hour to assemble it, and, he’s been doing it for years. It takes me about 10 minutes to assemble my 12.5, and, I could carry it in my Vue.
If he had a few refractors it might push the price up. Refractors are expensive for the aperture. I’ve a 5inch that cost the same as 10-12 inch scopes are going now.
Another thing could be solar scopes. They are VERY expensive for the aperture. And CCD cameras, processors and the like. You can spend a LOT of money on telescope equipment.
Personally, I go used, but, the 5inch I bought new because my wife insisted I get one that I can transport on the boat. I hope to get to use it when out on an island somewhere.
Have you looked at “Backyard Astronomy” on the Facebook? There are a LOT of amateur astronomy photographers that hang out there. May be able to help you with a set up.
I don’t do astro photography myself.
