Clint, TX - Two U.S. soldiers were held at gunpoint and disarmed by Mexican troops on American soil on April 19.
CNN reported that five to six Mexican military personnel questioned the two U.S. soldiers who were conducting border support operations.
A U.S. Northern Command statement confirmed that the U.S. soldiers were "appropriately in US territory" during the encounter, according to CNN.
The Mexican soldiers not only pointed their weapons at the U.S. troops, but also removed a soldiers sidearm and returned it to the unmarked U.S. Customs and Border Protection vehicle, U.S. military officials said.
CNN reported that the Mexican troops were armed with assault rifles. U.S. officials said the U.S. soldiers allowed the weapon to be taken in an effort to de-escalate the potential volatile situation.
"Throughout the incident, the US soldiers followed all established procedures and protocols," Northern Command said, according to CNN.
The encounter happened south of the border fence in the area but north of the Rio Grande, according to U.S. officials.
The river in that area has brush-filled and dried-out riverbed which makes it "very easy" for people to be confused as to what side of the border they are on.
One of the American soldiers spoke Spanish and explained the situation to the Mexican troops before the Mexican soldiers left in their unmarked pickup.
An inquiry by U.S. officials found that the Mexican military members thought the U.S. soldiers were in Mexico, according to the U.S. Northern Command.
"Though they were south of the border fence, US soldiers remained in US territory, north of the actual border," the statement said, according to CNN. The statement added that "after a brief discussion between the soldiers from the two nations, the Mexican military members departed the area."
President Donald Trump has ordered the military to support border security and the U.S. has 3,000 active duty troops and 2,000 National Guard troops in the southern border, CNN reported.
What an abomination.
It’s an act of war.
Those Mexican soldiers had NO business on US soil and the US military should have had the fortitude to detain them.
But something is going on in the border regions and a civilian who was stopping illegals entering the country was arrested by the FBI in recent days with comment supporting the arrest from the Democrat Attorney General of the State of New Mexico in the USA.

FYI: Texas was INVADED by the Mexican Army at 2:00 PM last Saturday, April 13, 2019. The Mexican Army forced the FIRST SURRENDER of American troops to a foreign power on American soil since the War of 1812. Make NO mistake - the Mexican troops KNEW EXACTLY where they were. They all have GPS. The border is not the wall, but the center of the Rio Grande river. The question is what drug mules they were “protecting” as they entered the US. Mexican Army troops have been found before as many as 9 or 10 miles into the US. This needs to STOP. American soldiers need LOADED RIFLES, and vehicle mounted machine guns, not UNLOADED HANDGUNS. And they need to be in MARKED ARMY VEHICLES, not unmarked civilian cars, or Border Patrol vehicles. I would venture to suggest we we need a few Abrams tanks down there for their psychological deterrent value.
Why should their CO be fired if he wasn’t even there. Also, the guys there were trying to deescalate the situation, apparently successfully. The Mexicans my not be so lucky with their command response. I have a son in special forces so I pay attention to these things. Also, firing is not the alternative, a court marshal would be the appropriate response if there was a suspected serious breach of protocol.
Oh so true. Our group took down a group of illegals 75 miles inside Texas. When frisked by BP, all had Mexico military ids. WTF!,, This is an invasion and has been going on for years. Secure the damn border, Trump
Some people seem doubtful this stuff happens...the things that happen on the border are unreal, except it is happening and has been for a long time.

Never give up your weapon.
Where was the gunship, and why are those mexicans still alive?
There were six of them against two of ours.
In this case they were south of the wall but north of the border, which is the river.
Somewhere at Google there is a map of all the fencing along the US/Mex border. Especially in Texas where the Rio Grand has many bends and loops, a lot of fencing is from the shortest point to the shortest point on the inside loop, so large chunks of unfenced land loops surrounded by river are easily reached by crossing the river and actually being in US territory.
Doesn’t matter where the fence is in Texas, the border is the middle of the Rio Grande River. They crossed the river. They darned well knew they were in the US.
That being the case, then perhaps some anti-personnel land mines could be a deterrent. Making sure that landowners and border patrol know where they are. Would it be possible to electrify some kind of small explosives that could be turned off during the day and on at night when honest folk are in bed? Perhaps something that would go off by trip wires or proximity and set off rocket fireworks? Then to be followed up with well armed troop patrols.
