On Thursday 11 April, shortly after 11pm, a black Columbia student named Alexander McNab walked through the gates of Barnard collegethe undergraduate all-womens school at Columbia Universityafter ignoring a security guards request to show his student ID. In search of a midnight snack, McNab got all the way to the library canteen before a public safety officer confronted him and asked for his ID a second time, a request McNab once again refused.
Several more officers had arrived on the scene and were continuing to request ID when McNab began yelling. What happened next, depicted in the video below, has become the subject of a national scandal: two officers pushed McNabs upper body onto the countertop, at which point McNab finally handed over his ID. Public safety proceeded to verify that he was indeed an active Columbia student, at which point they left him alone...

Wish I were a student, I’d try it with my signed MAGA hat.
There’s a “him” at Columbia?
Every kid I ever knew who went to that safety school was a sissy or a dyke.
University administrators are like the established House and Senate members. Will throw anyone under the bus to keep their cushy jobs.
One of the arguments being used to forward these affirmative action bills for drug decriminalization is that black convicts deserve reparations for decades of anti-drug laws, and that simply legalizing or de-criminalizing marijuana without giving taxpayer handouts to minority communities is discrimination.
A case of creating a fake racial “incident” to spark fake outrage against fake “police” resulting in a fake apology by lazy cowardly administrators looking to keep their paychecks culminating in a fake news narrative. The only thing that rings true about this story is the consistency of its falsity. Congratulations to the cast and production crew of Columbia’s theatrical production “White Privilege”.
Blackie is always right, Whitey is always guilty.
What good is white privilege if you don't use it?
Those kids demanding that the police are gone from their campus - I’d give anything to see them after 24 hours with no police protection.
I’d especially like to see these administrators trying to make it to their cars at night with no security around. LOL
Wonder how many times he had to to in and out of the cafeteria that night before he was stopped?
He was loud, obnoxious, belliggerant, and verbally violent.
Security was remarkably tolerant given his aggressive demeanor.
I spent two years attending graduate school at Columbia in the mid 1960s. For those who are unfamiliar with Manhattan, Columbia is located in West Harlem. Even in the 1960s, crime was rampant both on and off campus. There were numerous security guards on campus, many of whom were Black, and at least some of them were armed.
One day, I was standing in the lobby of our building, and a guy carrying a typewriter ran past followed by two security guards. He was caught and tackled just outside the building. This was in broad daylight.
Another time I was walking to my car which was parked about 8 blocks away on Riverside Drive. When I turned the key in the ignition, nothing happened. My battery had been stolen.
There were times in winter when I had to make that walk in the dark, a walk that was always stressful as people tended not to be walking around after dark.
These experiences were not unique as far more serious crimes were happening on a regular basis. I suspect that things are far worse today. As for the university administration, they are a bunch of left wing cowards. It is a tragedy how the formerly great centers of higher education have fallen.
+1
Amazing how one can refuse to comply with a simple request - in place for the safety of the folks on the campus - and then get upset because the folks responsible for their safety did their job.
If it was a bad guy and they just let him be, they would have a gazillion law suits against them for not doing their job.
