Nevada could joins 14 other states and Washington, D.C. to award its electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote during a presidential election. The Assembly passed AB186 in a narrow vote of 23-17.
"I think it's going to increase voter participation," Assem. Tyrone Thompson, D-North Las Vegas said. "This is where we would know that people really will fell like that vote counts even more. It's just that more reason to go to the polls and to make sure that your voice is your vote."
Nevada has six electoral votes, which go to the candidate who gets the most votes in our state. If the bill passes the Senate and gets Governor Sisolak's signature, the votes would go to the candidate who got the most votes, nationally. Some say a popular vote would give states with larger populations more control, and candidates would ignore smaller states like Nevada.
"If we go to a national popular vote, why would they even bother coming here? Our constitution says we're a republic, not a democracy," Assem. Jim Wheeler, R-Minden said. "I voted 'No' on the national popular vote because I don't want Nevada to be a flyover state."

The 15 Art V states: AK, AZ, UT, ND, OK, TX, MO, AR, LA, IN, TN, MS, AL, GA, FL... all won by Trump
The nation will soon be split in two. Over a few generations people will move to a socialist state or a conservative state. Over a few more generations the states will once again combine as part of the peace treaty and the conservative states bailing out the bankrupt socialist states.
In order to sue, you have to have standing. So GOP cant sue until the comes into effect and hurts a Republican. When and if that happens, it will make the 2000 election look like a picnic. It will be a constitutional crisis and we may never recover.
Its illegal for the states to form a compact and conspire against other states. All agreements between states have to be approved by congress.
Nevada’s ‘popular vote’ comes from Las Vegas ( riddled with illegal invaders who vote) & Reno.
This will effectively NULLIFY all the votes in the rest of the state.
The MASSIVE voter fraud in Los Angeles County ave her a vote lead thee.
Over 1M registered to vote & voted on the same day.
NO way to check if those voters were legal to vote.
Yeah but them 487 is a hole lot smarterer than the rest of use. So they say. Eggs-actly why the EC.
This will go to the USSC which will rule it is a back door violation of the Constitution and stopped.
The problems are:
Voter fraud. No voter ID required in many states.
Voter harvesting. I believe California will push to make it legal country wide
Giving electoral college votes to winner of popular vote.
Democrats plan to sweep elections in 2020 for House, Senate and presidency..
Trump will campaign in L A and NYC and completely eradicate the democrat party.
Excellent point.
Trump would not need to win California or New York, only to peel away enough votes to pad his popular vote totals. If he had bothered to campaign there he surely could have done that.
Somebody (eg William Barr and Supreme Court if necessary) better put a stop to this shit right pronto!

I agree. All states have their electoral votes apportioned by population. Each state has proportional representation in the national election for president. The state awards its electoral votes to the candidate who WINS THE POPULAR VOTE WITHIN THAT STATE! The state that overrules that democratic principle would disenfranchise the majority of voters within that state by voting for the candidate who got a minority of votes in that state. Totally unconstitutional.
What amazes me is the absolute abject stupidity and ignorance of voters and legislators who would support disenfranchising their own voters. Every state is an independent legal, geographical, and political entity and as such needs its sovereignty protected due to the constitutional checks and balances delineated in our founding document
Somebody PLEASE tell me this whole movement is unconstitutional..
Somebody PLEASE tell me this whole movement is unconstitutional..
Same for Colorado, but it might be worthwhile to execute a recall on a couple of state senators. Not that it would reverse the law, but would work to take the legislation out of rubber stamp mode.
There. Fixed it.
