Earlier this week, Fox 2 KTVU reported that SFO is experiencing a recent “surge” of homeless people taking refuge in the busy airport; many are said to arrive in the middle of the night via BART trains south from the city, as per the San Francisco Chronicle.
“I mean, there’s just nowhere else for people to go,” Freidenbach told KTVU. “So, we’re going to see them at the airport, we’re going to see them on the busses we’re going to see them out. There’s just literally nowhere else for people to go.”
Though the exact impact of the critical homelessness situation on San Francisco’s billion-dollar tourism profits remain unclear, things are reportedly not looking good. In June, a major medical association withdrew from hosting its annual convention in San Francisco, claiming its members no longer felt safe there. The cancellation of that one five-day trade show represented a loss of $40 million to the local economy.

Can they set up quick tent cities and sleeping bags on the runways and use the plane wings for shade in the sun or rain?
I know someone who lives in the Rats’ Mile High City, who tells me that whenever they have important events in town, they give all the public vagrants movie and hotel passes, shelter, etc, to keep them off the streets out of sight.
I’ll bet SF has a lot more detritus.
Oh, for crying out loud.
Give them a cup of Starbucks and a pass to the frequent flyer lounges.
So, after they have ruined, stunk up most of the libraries, now it’s time to move onto the airports!
I stopped using my local library for that reason long ago.
The Librarians are too scared to make them leave.
Many will virtually take up residence inside of the rest rooms.
I wonder if SFO has a poop finder app like the city does?
They can send another 5000 illegal aliens. No problem.

Why am I thinking SF is going to open a special lounge at SFO for Homeless and drug users.
The rest of us paying customers are going to get a mat to sit on waiting for our flight.
Back 30 years ago, this is exactly what San Jose Airport was like.
