Roy Moore, who lost a 2017 Senate race after a string of claims of sexual misconduct with teenage girls, is running for the seat again in 2020 in what could become a rematch against the Democrat who beat him.
Moore, 72, told a gathering of grassroots Republicans in Alabama this weekend that he will announce his candidacy in a matter of weeks, the Washington Examiner reported.
If he wins the GOP nomination, he would face Democratic Sen. Doug Jones, who is considered one of the most endangered Democrats in the Senate.

That is a killer. But it didn't stop me from voting for Moore in the general election against Doug Jones (D). I voted for Mo Brooks in the GOP primary.
2. All the accusations from women who popped up during the special senate election, and the weeks of negative coverage that received.
Moore made all these claims he was going to sue his women accusers. I never saw anything come of it. His campaign last time was ineffectual. I see no reason it would be better this time.
The other incumbent RINO U.S. Sen. from AL, Richard Shelby, called for GOP voters in 2017 to vote against Roy Moore.
I'm all in for Mo in 2020.
No offense, but your statement confirmed for me that Moore's entire campaign was built on abject ignorance, and was run by rank amateurs.
I would agree with you, but I would also say that Roy Moore would be less reliable than Lisa Murkowski when it comes to voting for Trump’s agenda.
yup
Fake conservatives on this forum always attack people like Roy Moore, Ted Cruz, and Mike Pence with excuses that sound an awful lot like the GOPe’s criticisms of Donald Trump: can’t win, unelectable, bad optics, creepy, and on and on.
I suspect some here on this very forum would prefer a baby-killing, butt-sex-defending liberal over an Evangelical conservative.
They care only about things like taxes and other libertarian/populist-conservative common ground. But they’re still only pretending to be conservative in order to be on this forum.
As far as I’m concerned those who holds such views are working for the other team. And they deserve to live in a socialist hell hole.
Hopefully they won’t help turn America into one due to their bigotry against conservative, evangelical Christians. Conservative evangelical Christianity is what made and makes America great.
It’s one thing to argue for a stronger candidate who is solidly conservative. It is another to join the Satanic leftwing and RINO uniparty cabal in trying to destroy an honorable man.
Creation vs Evolution debates.
If you don't know the relevance of the comments that is the problem.
LOL. Moore is a LOSER. No point in supporting a LOSER, no matter how conservative you think he is. It does not matter if the slime they threw at him was fake, IT STUCK. The dude is toast.
It has nothing to do with the comment you were replying to so I disagree. I have been on many of the creation vs evolution debates (rarely commenting) but have never heard it called Crevo before.
I'm not a huge fan of Mike Pence. He's fine for certain roles and I think he sets a good example for people to follow, but I've never trusted him completely because at his core I think he has sold out to the GOP establishment. None of this has anything to do with his Christianity. If anything, it's his Christianity that makes this even more disappointing.
I recall the 2015 controversy in IN when Gov. Pence signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Leftists, including the NFL, reacted strongly against this bill because they felt the law was carefully worded in a way that would permit discrimination against LGBT persons.
In the wake of the backlash against the RFRA, on April 2, 2015, Pence signed legislation revising the law to protect against potential discrimination. I always thought Pence crumbled under pressure from the likes of the NFL.
“No point in supporting a LOSER, no matter how conservative you think he is. It does not matter if the slime they threw at him was fake, IT STUCK.”
When you run for a publicly elected office you can let us know how it’s done by a winner like you.
There is a difference between pointing out that Moore lost (or was actually cheated out of the election by fraud), from using the insulting term “LOSER” to describe a true conservative, evangelical Christian. I am highly suspicious of anyone who would use that word to describe him.
Roy Moore spent MANY successful years as a judge and held multiple ELECTED positions. How many have YOU held? Which is worse, someone who just sits in his armchair and criticizes the ones doing the heavy lifting, or the ones who sometimes falter due to the lack of support by supposed conservatives?
The homosexual mafia mobilized against Moore. This had nothing at all to do with his dating habits. It had to do with his outspoken opposition to homosexuality.
And the liberals and GOPe were not going to allow him in their club, just like they were not going to allow President Trump in their club.
Anyone on this forum who is too naive to see through this is a simpleton at best.
There are some things worth fighting for. The left and GOPe must be shown they cannot use these tactics to destroy the lives of good people, or they will continue to do so.

If Moore was such a “loser” why the need for his own party to vigorously campaign against him to the benefit of a progressive Democrat? That should not have been necessary.
“if the race in Alabama falls between Roy Moore and a liberal, the Alabamian who does not make an effort to vote for Moore is the problem — the problem isn’t Roy Moore”
If I lived in Alabama, I would vote for Moore in the primary unless there was an equally conservative candidate with a better shot at winning. I would support the most conservative candidate in the general which would almost certainly be the Republican.
If Alabama wasn’t such a heavily Republican state he would have lost by 50 points. It was almost painful to watch that guy on the campaign trail. I’d be surprised if he got more than 15% of the vote among people younger than 40.
A political party can get away with nominating an extremist — or even a criminal. But nominating a LOSER is unforgivable.
The people of Alabama decide who their senator is. Not you. Not Mitch McConnell and his progressive corportist allies on K Street.
This really isn’t a tough one. If we allow the Uniparty a veto over primary winners it won’t end well for Main Street USA. Guaranteed.
If we allow fake smear campaigns to work, then all that’s required for every election hereafter is to churn out a fake smear campaign.
We train our enemy on how to most easily defeat us.
Moore couldn’t motivate people to come out and vote for him over a screaming moon-bat liberal like Jones!
Couldn’t motivate conservatives in Alabama! IN ALABAMA!
Then there’s that weird 3 or 4 days off he took to go to an Army game. Did he think he had it in the bag?
Surely Alabama has someone just as conservative that isn’t as politically unskilled as Moore.
Your comment is reasonable pragmatism. I have no problem with those who prefer the best conservative candidate and prefer someone other than Cruz, Pence, Moore, etc. for THIS reason.
What I have a problem with is members of a conservative, faith-oriented forum, who make attacks against these men in way which seems indistinguishable from the attacks that Planned Parenthood or their ilk makes.
The people of Alabama are perfectly capable of deciding who their senator is. His name is Doug Jones and not Roy Moore — right?
