Roy Moore, who lost a 2017 Senate race after a string of claims of sexual misconduct with teenage girls, is running for the seat again in 2020 in what could become a rematch against the Democrat who beat him.

Moore, 72, told a gathering of grassroots Republicans in Alabama this weekend that he will announce his candidacy in a matter of weeks, the Washington Examiner reported.

If he wins the GOP nomination, he would face Democratic Sen. Doug Jones, who is considered one of the most endangered Democrats in the Senate.

Moore deserves a straight up shot for the slot, and he deserves to have Republicans support him this time, and not make robo-calls to Republicans to defeat him.

It doesn't matter what Moore "deserves". Sometimes life is not about people getting what they deserve. Like it or not, fair or not, Moore is damaged goods and he will not be elected. FWIW, he can join Dan Quayle and Sarah Palin at the next meeting of the "We Didn't Deserve This" club.

He still has the young girls issue. Whether or not you think it’s fine for 30 year olds to date 18 year olds isn’t the issue?

The issue is what an ad campaign can do with it.

I would rather that the dem candidate had to defend that.

Except that “YOUR glass of water” lost the last election...

The Republican Establishment simply will not permit his election, even if it means the use of violence or threats of violence against Moore or his immediate family.

What "use of violence"? What "threats of violence"?

People just won't vote for the guy. They can make up their own minds about him.

Two things everyone should always separate in their thinking about Roy Moore and his chances.

1. The fact he was elected as CJ of the Alabama Supreme Court twice, and twice pulled political stunts that got him removed from the court, stunts level heads knew he had little chance of winning against the federal courts.

2. All the accusations from women who popped up during the special senate election, and the weeks of negative coverage that received.

Many outside the state fix on #2, but many Republican voters in the state formed their negative opinion of Moore based on #1, before there even was a special senate election. Don’t underestimate the importance of #1 on election day. There are a good number of Republicans who simply will not vote for Moore under any circumstances.

His own party vigorously campaigned against him to the benefit of a progressive Democrat. Sadly, there is only one Donald J. Trump who can beat such long odds as that.

Not sure what Crevo is, but I’m really not sure what your comment has to do with the Freepers comment you are responding to. Even if you like Moore, the guy is 1) Old and 2) Damaged goods at this point. Why not nominate someone in their 40s who can run for 30+ years, has the same political views as Moore and doesn’t carry the baggage? We should be winning in AL by 20+%, not possibly winning in a rematch against Jones.

That’s false. There was ONE accusation of impropriety that was skillfully conflated with legal and consensual encounters to attack Moore.

If you are going to breezily smear Judge Moore to the benefit of Democrats and Trump hating Republicans please get your facts straight.

Moore has the right principles but is a clod as a political campaigner!

He had his chance & he blew a gimme!
Time for him to get back on his horse and ride to Mobile or something!

Please no noise about the slime! Nowadays all Conservatives get it in some form. If you have the “skills” you have “answers” and can handle it. Then go and motivate the faithful to get the turn & win! Moore couldn’t or wouldn’t (Going off the campaign trail with what 4 days left to go to a football game showed he “Wouldn’t”) make the effort needed to win.

Again he needs to get back on his horse and find something else to do! Work for other candidates, help the nominee win. Show its not all about him & his political career!

You need to read more carefully. I drew no conclusions about those accusations, only stated that they happened during the special senate election. I simply pointed out there were two sets of circumstances surrounding Moore that those in outside the state probably viewed differently from those in Alabama.

The accusations actually had little effect on the voters, just as the accusations against Trump had little effect.

“Moore has the right principles but is a clod as a political campaigner!”

It was tough sledding watching a Roy Moore campaign speech. He is not a good speaker. Sort of a relic from the 1940s south or as some would describe him down here “that 10 commandments dude”.

I knew he was in trouble during the general election because no one was admitting in public that they supported him. That’s because he was an embarrassment. We need a candidate people aren’t ashamed of admitting that they support. Mo Brooks was my choice last time but let’s see who runs this time.

Say what you want (or suspect) about Moore, but he would have been a reliable vote for Trump.

Mitch McConnell is the problem not Moore. Mitch knows Moore
will vote him out of leadership and Mitch who can’t find a vote for Trump will move heaven and earth and collude with liberals, Rinos and Dems to smear again Judge Moore.

Lets face it any GOP conservative who believed that pedophile BS last time also believed Herman Cain cheated on his wife with a neighbor of Obama campaign manager Axelrod.
Setup setup.

I did say, once he got the nomination, that he needed to be supported to win the seat, because all he has to do in Washington is to vote for Trump’s agenda, that’s all that matters.

Moore's biggest problem is that he can probably only raise money from people who are mentally retarded.

A political party can get away with nominating an extremist -- or even a criminal. But nominating a LOSER is unforgivable.
