Good article. But I’m more concerned what this portends for 2030. We are not on a good path. I foresee homosexuality as a flashpoint in the next election.

I think the “crackup” occurred a while ago actually (the movement from mainline protestants and Catholics to fundimentalism).
What we are seeing now would be more accurately called fading, as people have gone from switching religions to switching off of religion.
We just passed the point where Americans who do not practice religion outnumber the largest denomination (Christian Evangelicals) in another twenty years they will outnumber all denominations combined.
