A Notre Dame cathedral priest has claimed that all precious artefacts and artwork have been saved from the historic building.
In a tweet, French journalist Nicolas Delesalle cited Père Frédéric, writing: "Good news: all the works of art were saved. The treasure of the Cathedral is intact, the Crown of thorns, the Holy sacraments."
The fire, which has destroyed destroyed large sections of the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, has spread to one of the cathedral's landmark rectangular towers, according to Bloomberg.
The historic building's spire and roof have already collapsed. No casualties have been reported as of yet.
The cause of the fire is not yet known, however, officials have indicated it could be linked to current renovation work.
The French President, Emmanuel Macron, has cancelled a planned public address and has arrived at the scene.
Large plumes of smoke are still billowing from the Gothic building, despite firefighters' best efforts to tackle the blaze over the past few hours.

Black Agnes: Sphinx has the same idea about selling fragments of the ruins. You two should keep in touch.
Yesterday I wain near despair.
you have given me some hope.
A big Amen to that, metmom.
I join my voice to yours, dear FRiend.
Make that 138 illegals turned over just this week.
“...starting to feel orchestrated...”
yes - the timing in Holy week is too suspicious for me. The propaganda media’s synchronized stories remind me of “it was a video” that caused the Benghazi terror attack.
The sacristy. The crypt. The attached museum. Other facilities under the control of the Paris Diocese.
Here are a number of photos. One was taken inside the church after the fire and the walls and other structures appear like they would have been before the fire. Of course, high heat can make some this very fragile.
Well, at least now they won’t be spending $6million to do some exterior repairs. Instead they will have many millions in contributions to do a major overhaul.
All in dozens of different languages. :-)
Thanks gleeaikin.
The spire was kinda cool and an iconic symbol from miles away but also proved to be unstoppable once set afire.
Speaking of copper, the copper statues had been removed ahead of time for restoration.
The twelve apostles and four additional evangelists.
Almost seems like somebody knew this was going to happen.
I posted this at 113 before I saw your comment.
The statues themselves were being restored, the green oxidation taken off and the original brown color coming back.
I had the same reaction you did. A Christian in the woodpile.
Tiffany glass is as expensive as it is because you can’t reproduce it. They destroyed the formula.
I’m sure much the same situation exists in the rose windows.
I just Googled “Images of Notre Dame stained glass windows,” but my computer is acting up and I could not paint the URL to transfer here. Look them up yourself. There are many different kinds of windows there. Some but by no means all have been destroyed. The glass parts are connected by double sided grooved strips of lead called “came.” Being of lead they are very susceptible to melting from heat. I also understand that the spire that fell had many tons of lead in it’s construction. Probably also melted and fell.
Regarding the formula. The church (Vatican) may have saved these formulas. Or perhaps the guilds kept them secret. My grandfather created his own glass colors for his work in the Indianapolis State Library. He also experimented with interesting effects. I have seen one glass he produced that was iridescent blue like a Morpho butterfly. Also another that was an iridescent satin surfaced rich gold. I’m sure that with the big money pledged for restoration, that this work can be done, though probably not in 5 years. I heard something like a billion dollars in pledges. Also money is now pouring in for the 3 southern churches that were recently burned.
I hope you are right, that the formulas were saved. Tiffany destroyed them purposely, for commercial reasons, but that might not apply in this case.
Consider what was not destroyed: the apostles, other evangelists, the crown of thorns even if fake, the pieta, and of course the cross.
Note that a freeper biochemist has stated that all of Paris is contaminated with the lead smoke.
I was happy to hear the stained glass windows survived! The heat had to be intense. Cleaning the windows for smoke damage will be necessary, however.
Meanwhile our President has offered his experts to help with the rebuilding.
