The Next George Bush Bet Everything on Trump In a time of outsider politics, can the ultimate insider resurrect his familys brand?
--------------------------------
But how does one sell the party of Trump to communities hes repeatedly disparaged? On immigration, Bush claims that the challenge isnt one of substance. Its the tone that is not working, he said, adding that Texas wants the national government to come forward with solutions, such as supporting Border Patrol, strategically located physical structures, and a plan to deal with people who have overstayed their visas, which Bush feels is the most overlooked issue.
But however much Bush adjusts his own tone, or focuses on advancing reasonable policies, hes still tied to the presidentand he still feels he needs to be. This helps explain his often awkward dance over the past two years. How he endorsed Trump in 2016, but rarely utters his name. How he joined members of his party in denouncing the liberal fake news, but spoke up when they villainized a Muslim party official. How Bush repeatedly described to me significant differences of opinion with Trumphe called NAFTA the most important free-trade agreement in Texas state history, and said John Kellys and James Mattiss departures from the administration were a threat to its stabilitybut said he does not support a primary challenge to Trump right now.
Perhaps Bushs seesaw approach to the president will be enough to secure his next office. Or perhaps Trumps Texas base will continue to grow more fervent, at the same time that Democrats continue to mobilize millions of voters. In that case, Bushs future may be determined not by his ability to bridge the political chasm, but by his willingness to pick a side.

But not for Prescott Bush’s money that got them through “prestige” schools and funded their business and political activities, they’d probably be just another group of seemingly slow-witted folks wandering around in life screwing things up.
This one’s ok. Don’t hold the family against him. POTUS? I agree-no. The Senate would be ok after 8 years as Gov. You never know he may be a conservative yet. 2032? You don’t know how the country will look. We DO know how Hillary looks right now.
A Bush is about as trust worthy as a Clinton and that metric is as negative as it can get
Fake News from the Atlantic.
No Bush Family member cared anything about anyone outside of their family.
Unless it was to grab power.
Yep, another snake
Never. Trust. A Beltway Bush.
Period.
The reprehensible leftist policies of that family killed the one chance America had to sustain the conservative coup, and ushered in Clinton and Barak. I won’t spend my time on Pro-abortion Barbara.
I’m done with that family, and I think most conservatives are too.
Never. Trust. A Beltway Bush.

Never. Trust. A Bush.
How many times are you going to fall for a Bush that betrays you?
So W supported a potntial felon to be president of the USA.
Seem to recall George P Bush had some idiotic designs on the Alamo? I see the Alamo as sacred ground, where brave men gave all. To modernize it, or whatever diminishes the enduring meaning of it.
Did he want to open up the Alamo’s basement for tours? /P. Herman
The presidency is not a family right...
He’s purely a politician. Ignore & reject him. His family sucks and he cannot be trusted.
“P” is a “snake in the grass” just like his daddy and uncle.
If his Texas base grows, it won’t be with my help...I’ve already voted against him in the primary, and left that race blank (I will NEVER vote for a Dem) in the General Election.
Herman Cain wrote a book called “They think you’re stupid”.Its the arrogance of these people that I detest. GPB aint fooling nobody.
Like Jesse Jackson said:
Keep out the bushes!
...So he means a wall?
Hey.
Watch your tone.
You’re not supposed to talk that way.
