FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Thursday, April 11, 2019 WikiLeaks Founder Charged in Computer Hacking Conspiracy
ALEXANDRIA, Va. Julian P. Assange, 47, the founder of WikiLeaks, was arrested today in the United Kingdom pursuant to the U.S./UK Extradition Treaty, in connection with a federal charge of conspiracy to commit computer intrusion for agreeing to break a password to a classified U.S. government computer.
According to court documents unsealed today, the charge relates to Assanges alleged role in one of the largest compromises of classified information in the history of the United States.
The indictment alleges that in March 2010, Assange engaged in a conspiracy with Chelsea Manning, a former intelligence analyst in the U.S. Army, to assist Manning in cracking a password stored on U.S. Department of Defense computers connected to the Secret Internet Protocol Network (SIPRNet), a U.S. government network used for classified documents and communications. Manning, who had access to the computers in connection with her duties as an intelligence analyst, was using the computers to download classified records to transmit to WikiLeaks. Cracking the password would have allowed Manning to log on to the computers under a username that did not belong to her. Such a deceptive measure would have made it more difficult for investigators to determine the source of the illegal disclosures.
During the conspiracy, Manning and Assange engaged in real-time discussions regarding Mannings transmission of classified records to Assange. The discussions also reflect Assange actively encouraging Manning to provide more information. During an exchange, Manning told Assange that after this upload, thats all I really have got left. To which Assange replied, curious eyes never run dry in my experience.
Assange is charged with conspiracy to commit computer intrusion and is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison. Actual sentences for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
G. Zachary Terwilliger, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, John C. Demers, Assistant Attorney General for National Security, and Nancy McNamara, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBIs Washington Field Office, made the announcement after the charges were unsealed. First Assistant U.S. Attorney Tracy Doherty-McCormick, Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kellen S. Dwyer, Thomas W. Traxler and Gordon D. Kromberg, and Trial Attorneys Matthew R. Walczewski and Nicholas O. Hunter of the Justice Departments National Security Division are prosecuting the case.
The extradition will be handled by the Department of Justices Office of International Affairs.

An indictment contains allegations that a defendant has committed a crime. Every defendant is presumed to be innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
If it wasn’t for Assange, Clinton and her absolutely corrupt cronies would be in charge in Washington.
Great. So the guy is arrested for exposing Hillary Clinton’s crimes.
When does she get arrested?
“no one is above the law” said the lying “British” officer.
Manning’s sentence was commuted by Obama.
Given that precedent, doesn’t seem worth pursuing, logically.
....conspiracy to commit computer intrusion for agreeing to break a password to a classified U.S. government computer...
Who else provided access to classified US Government computers?
The Clinton crime family.
Anwan brothers
Very hard to sympathize.
It’s one thing to publish stuff, in the principle of free speech, that people send to you. You can claim your being like the NYT or whoever, even if you are publishing sensitive information or secrets. However, if you are (allegedly) conspiring to hack, you have to know you could end up in the deep water
If it wasnt for Assange, Clinton and her absolutely corrupt cronies would be in charge in Washington.
No one changed their vote because of the Podesta emails. Conservatives knew she was corrupt and the emails just verified everything. Liberals knew she was corrupt and still voted for her despite the verification. I was not surprised by one thing revealed by wikileaks.
This is better for Assange than anything that would happen in England or Europe. When Assange is safely in the States I would suspect his “safety switch/kill switch” would be triggered. Pres. Trump, if Assange cooperates with the Government please put him in witness protection and grant him a PARDON!
Manning is currently in prison for contempt of court for refusing to testify..................
They didn’t charge him for Hillary emails because Rosenzweig announced the leak was from a Russian front called “DC leaks”!!
He knows Seth Rich.......................
Sentence him to be cellmates with old Bradley Manning, until he starts to like it. Then split them up.
Dems wanted him arrested
Clinton death pool
Will grow
Assange
Will be
Silenced
Because
Source
DNC Hack
Seth Rich
Rosetta Stone
Goodbye Julian
Swamp wins again
Sarcasms can be deadly
As helpful as Wikileaks have been at times, leaks have also been very damaging to the USA. Assange is no innocent patriot.
But we paid for his blown tranny, correct?
When do we find out Seth Rich was the leak and who plugged him?
Will the Brits send Steele also?
Obama’s team put forward no charges at all against Assange until after Clinton lost the election. Timing is pretty suspicious ain’t it?
> Assange is no innocent patriot.
He’s not an American and owes the US no loyalty.
