Donald Trumps three-quarters-of-a-trillion-dollar defense budget request submitted to Congress last month contains a dirty secret, one that should make us all think twice about perpetual war and public support for it.
The youth of America dont want to serve in the military any more.
The situation has become so dire that just to maintain Americas ground forces the army and Marine Corps the two services are resorting to unprecedented pay raises, bonuses and socialist trappings.
And things are going to get worse. This year, for the first time ever, Americans born after 11 September 2001 will be able to enlist in the armed forces. Its a sobering reminder both of how long weve been at war but also how distant those very wars have become from Americas youth. And yet official military polling shows that fewer and fewer young Americans consider the military as a career or as a transitional step only some 12.5% the lowest number in a decade.

Yep. Join the endless undeclared, so-called war on islam. How exciting!
The economy is doing good. Young folks are looking forward to other ways of making a living. How many people get rich in the Army?.
“The youth of America dont want to serve in the military any more.”
Oh yeah? Then draft their candy asses.
Precisely.
Almost as if it was deliberate...
Right. I enlisted...not drafted...in 1963 during JFK presidency. America was still America then. As much as a I treasure the military and my experience therein, I wouldn’t encourage anyone to “go in” at this point in history.
This can be easily remedied....June 7, 1969 I recieved a letter that started ...GREETING!!!!
Typically those types will not do well and probably get dumped for "various reasons."
Not necessarily a bad thing as I personally do not want to see such individuals learning the skills that are taught.
Same with the snowflakes. No knowledge for them of such skills will only place them at a huge disadvantage if things go sideways here.
The men loyal to the concepts of our constitutional rights would have a much easier time maintaining control of this Republic.
A very slim chance of that becoming necessary but if on the off chance that it does manifest why make it hard?
.
Thanks.
The UK is having a hard time filling their puny military manpower needs. I wouldn’t be surprised if The Guardian advocates filling in the gaps with Muslims.
I thought that all the new Americans crawling across the border would rush to defend America.
Precisely.

We all know the Kenyan from Indonesia did this on purpose to weaken America.
The founders were right to exclude the children of foreigners with natural born citizen.
My age group’s parents fought WWII, so we guys felt an obligation to serve the country, too. This did not pass down to our kids, though. And it seems to be getting worse.
The Guardian in the UK is far left. Don’t know about this blog.
After all, most people who are being honest would agree that putting women in infantry units is counter-productive at best, but the military is gung-ho to keep doing so. Part of it is probably due to fears over manpower shortages and cultivating a new pool of potential recruits, but a huge part of it is "women's empowerment" mindset.
This is not the UK Guardian.
I’ve often wished to assist the military but cannot possibly pass their physical anymore.
Maybe they could set up some sort of system, organization where folks could lend a hand on a part-time basis from home, maybe via computer? Or?
Just a thought.
Or maybe it wouldn’t pay them to do it?
This is not the UK Guardian.
“The Guardian” is an Ammerican blog, not the Guardian in the UK.
if the Guardian doesn’t like “perpetual war” then it should editorialize for the fastest possible repatriation of all the Muslims that the UK Ruling Elite has imported
This article is from an American blog, not the UK.
After Vietnam (not the war itself, but the public admissions years later by our leaders as to how it was mishandled), I don’t blame anyone who doesn’t consider joining the military. Anyone who does choose to do so should watch those interviews very carefully. We didn’t just lose 60,000 Americans and destroy many more lives and families here; the architects of that war killed over a million Vietnamese people (on both sides of the border).
They should have been jailed as war criminals, especially considering they didn’t even bother declaring war; that left our servicemen exposed to all kinds of problems.
