The White House is planning on targeting the tens of billions of dollars in "remittance payments" sent by illegal immigrants back to their home countries, in the wake of an ongoing migrant flood at the U.S. Southern border, a senior administration official told reporters Tuesday.
The plans to target remittance payments come amid a broader shakeup at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and future executive actions designed to curb illegal immigration. The situation at the southern border has escalated in recent weeks, with thousands of migrants arriving daily to claim asylum.
Officials say the illegal arrivals are spurred by loopholes in U.S. immigration law that allow family units claiming asylum to arrive illegally and still be released into the interior of the country with a work permit.
The migrants are then given a court date at some point in the future to adjudicate the asylum claim, with the vast majority failing to ultimately get a favorable asylum ruling. These migrants rarely show up for deportation, with the senior administration official calling the practice “backdoor illegal immigration.”

This may temporarily slow down remittances.
Long-term it will cause the creation of underground money-transfer operations, probably controlled by the cartels.
All they have to do is price their services lower than the tax and they will be the money transfer vehicle of choice.
The problem is going to get worse, not better.
How about we try a modest tax, say 5%, low enough that the security of a legitimate money transfer organization is worth the tax?

china charges $25,000 for tourist visas and the “tourists” have to find jobs here to pay the chinese government back as their families are basically held hostage until paid off.
The only plus side is very few chinese ever apply for welfare. They like to work.

FINALLY!!!! we see these check cashing wire transfer shops all over catering to the illegal populations in the areas. Our tax money doled out to these invaders by our criminal politicians are being sent back to thier home land.

As said there will always be illegals trying to get to the US.....however what we’ve been seeing these past years isn’t just illegals wanting to get here...it’s far more than that.
like it, and surround san diego, with the army and declare we are bringing back the rule of law, and deport all illegals, next announce the army will be doing this in every town an city in america, if they leave on their own, we give bus transportation, if we have to catch them they o 2 years hard time building the wall in a desert camp..after the illegals see the army cleaning out san diego watch the exodus, if you are illegal you are illegal, no explanations needed, no drivers licenses, no voting cards, no social security..illegal must be illegal again..
