The White House is planning on targeting the tens of billions of dollars in "remittance payments" sent by illegal immigrants back to their home countries, in the wake of an ongoing migrant flood at the U.S. Southern border, a senior administration official told reporters Tuesday.
The plans to target remittance payments come amid a broader shakeup at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and future executive actions designed to curb illegal immigration. The situation at the southern border has escalated in recent weeks, with thousands of migrants arriving daily to claim asylum.
Officials say the illegal arrivals are spurred by loopholes in U.S. immigration law that allow family units claiming asylum to arrive illegally and still be released into the interior of the country with a work permit.
The migrants are then given a court date at some point in the future to adjudicate the asylum claim, with the vast majority failing to ultimately get a favorable asylum ruling. These migrants rarely show up for deportation, with the senior administration official calling the practice backdoor illegal immigration.
Potential plans against remittances could follow one or all of anti-illegal immigration group BorderPAC's recomendations:

Judges better remember that they CAN be removed by a senate action to impeach them one at a time. It's been done before. It's a congressional check on the courts.
Probably. The laws governing the banking industry are voluminous. I don't know if, for example, Western Union or other vendors transfers are done through the Fed system, or other international systems, which are regulated, but rest assured the wire originators use banks. If they don't own banks. I'm confident this is an area where regulation could tighten requirements for transfers. Or if there are identification requirements already exist, enforce them.
I wonder how many of these payments to Mexico are drug related.
I think you’ve figgered out the work around. Their ill gotten gains will just take a little longer to reach the gringos in the old country.
He should thank Antifa-Cortez for the idea and implement her 70% tax rate on those transfers.
The left criticize Trump for EVERYTHING . He came in “off the streets”, and is learning on the job. He was.is no politician.. and they tied his hands for 2 yrs. He’s ready to be Trump.. and I’m ready to watch him out smart those who have demonized him.
I agree completely. Just look at the press meeting today at the White House. He was on fire. Everything we have been waiting for is getting ready to come down. I believe we will all be surprised by the depth of deception that has gone on around the world.
Waiting for some idiot Obama judge to cry halt in 3...2...1...
Anyone know if this would affect business to business wires. For example, a grocery wholesaler paying a vegetable producer in Mexico or an auto manufacturer paying a suppplier?
You beat me to it!
The clintons have gotten by.. protected... with some terrible things...for most of their adult lives. I’m sure she thought she would get a pass on this also. But they are being exposed. If Trump had crumbled she would have. If they had not gone after him full bore.. she might have.. but she thought she was untouchable.. same goes for obama..he knew and it would not have gone on without his approval.
That would be a bad deal for any citizen. They would be creating an electronic record of funds transfers. Guaranteed the IRS would interrogate that list and cross reference to the income reported by that US citizen. One would face a huge tax bill when they couldnt prove the source of the funds, or face federal charges for aiding and abetting a fraud.
It may stop the remittances, which may get Mexico to move it’s butt, but illegals will still get here any way they can. I’m sure there’s a regular underground railroad of people going back and forth. They’ll mail it or hand carry it, if they have to.
That's an easy 50 bucks an hour, cash on the barrel head.
That old entrepreneurial spirit !
Yeah, I have a hard time imagining that this is going to work. Seems like there would be a lot of ways to get around it, if some judge just doesn’t kill it outright. I guess we will see. I’m not holding my breath.
Freegards
Cue the attorneys and the liberal, Obama-appointee judges who will rapidly put a kibosh on this effort to UPHOLD THE LAW!
GOOD! Now clamp down on employers.
I’ve heard all kinds of solutions but not one has been implemented.
When something is actually DONE I’ll believe it otherwise it’s useless.
GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!!!!
