Attorney General Bill Barr testified before the House Appropriations Committee on Tuesday morning.

During his testimony Barr told Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-AL) that the Inspector General Horowitz is investigating the FISA abuse during the Obama administration to spy on Trump. The Attorney General said the report will be completed in May or June.

AG Bill Barr: The Office of the Inspector General has a pending investigation of the FISA process in the Russia investigation and I expect that that will be complete sometime in May or June I am told. So hopefully we will have some answers from Inspector General Horowitz on the FISA warrants.

“Being investigated,” “reviewing” all code words for
“no one has been arrested.”

An ig can’t investigate other branches. This is not a grand jury. If it was happening there needs to be a grand jury or several grand juries with a prosecutor leading it.

A mutual stand-down would not at all be in character for Trump. He surely knows that any end but full justice meted out to all the key players will invite another shot at it.

Trump should have the Passports and Passport cards pulled from all the Clinton's, Obama's, ValJar, Comey, Holder, Brennen, Clapper, et. al. on a FRIDAY.

I mean pull 100+ passports and then Tweet "Big news coming Monday...hold on to your hats".

“Trump got the goods on the conspirators and a mutual stand-down was negotiated.“

Can believe that. Would be good to see real justice and punishment, though.

“Sounds like a white wash coming our way.”

AGREED. If they wanted a REAL investigation, they would NOT use the Inspector General, who has no subpoena powers. They would use a PROSECUTOR.

Barr had no sense of urgency either. “Ah, we’ll see what the IG has to say. Attempted coups are not important enough to actually do something at this time. No hurry. Oh yeah, Mueller is a God and didn’t do anything wrong. His bias actions, just look that way. No harm, no foul. Press leaks, lying to the court, raiding houses five in the morning, pressuring witness to lie, who cares.”

I think when Trump finally & fully understood the kind of rigged game he was facing, he took the best deal he could get. In effect, a quid pro quid stand down as other posters have noted. Maybe after months of resisting, deflecting & fighting, Trump came to realize that he was trapped the minute the Sessions recusal-Rodstein elevation-Mueller appointment was effected.

I mean, it's like knocking off the queen in the first 5 moves; bzzt game over. Stupid rookie mistake by someone who didn't know the full extent with what he was dealing with. Once Trump reached the point of accepting that Mueller could go anywhere, indict anyone, fabricate/destroy/frame evidence and/or witnesses without restraint, then no one in Trump's family was safe from indictment.

It must have been a bitter pill to take, but Trump should be thankful he wasn't forced to resign and/or impeached. So, he gets to finish his term, and maybe even gain another 4 years, but the die is certainly cast. With respect to the border, it's clear he doesn't have support of the either the military or state security apparatus, so there won't be any kind of national emergency declaration.

Put yourself in Trump's shoes: If you knew that it was all over, but wanted to save face, how would you act? And please, don't take this as pointless criticism. Trump gave us 4, maybe 8 years, to prepare; with Kankles in from the git-go, we'd still be fluffing around the starting line. Now, no one has any excuse not to fully understand the full extent of the situation. (Hint: US goes down due to demographic poison pill combined with Chinese economic/technical ascendancy.)

You will never offend me with an intelligent rebuttal. We disagree on him backing away under treat. Everyday he is feeding the storyline of biggest conspiracy in history. It could be he is putting on show, but he is convincing.

Your perception of the government is scary if true. I respect it and will give it some thought.

Don't worry, because we will get:

- More cable TV appearances by House GOP members (who are not in the minority) clamoring and telling us how outraged they are

- Tweets

- Strongly worded letters

- Former DOJ employees from the Bush years coming on TV and telling us that the DOJ and FBI "take their jobs very seriously"

Your perception of the government is scary if true.

Well, here's some another bedtime story to keep you up all night: republics have built in fail mechanisms.

Republics always devolve to democracies, because there's no effective way over time - short of tyranny - to prevent full enfranchisement. That is, any attempt to limit voter participation will always be attacked as non-representative. Further, any rationale used to support restrictions will be cast as bigoted & discriminatory.

So, concessions are made, until you reach the logical end-point where even non-citizens (illegals) are voting. Once a democratic state of government is reached - as we are - then the results are quite predictable. You have players pandering to the mob, like Clinton, Pelosi, et al catering to the 'historically disadvantaged'. But you also get the GOPe who well understand history & governance perhaps more than anyone, and have seen the writing on the wall and figure they should make hay while the sun shines.

Lastly, you have many layers and facets of both government and private industry wed to the status quo. They are addicted to the deficit spending whether it be military funding, social benefits or economic/infrastructure programs. Trump calls this entrenched web the 'swamp', but it's really just the status quo.

That's why he doesn't have any support outside of the 50% of regular, disorganized citizenry. They cannot act against government, because the way the rules are written, that is insurrection. Rather, according to constitutional strictures, one must elect representatives. And if they don't truly represent you or the country's interests? Well, that's where the game fails, as we've see firsthand.

Trump walks into this (maybe) thinking he can actually fix something, or more likely, recognizing a good promotional angle to win the presidency and satisfy his ego. So we get all the market tested buzz words such as MAGA, "you'll get tired of winning", etc. However, within just a few months, he probably had a major attitude adjustment aka come to jesus moment. That's when he realized it was futile - but unlike walking away from his BK projects - the presidency was too personal, so he had to suck it up and make appearances count.

That' my take on where we're at. But, again as I cautioned before, this isn't some never-Trump diatribe. No, he gave us 4 years, and I'll be first in line to try and vote another in 2020, but that's only because the alternative brings the future to fast.

Ultimately, the US will become Mexico within just a few decades. That means lagging technology + inability to mount an effective fighting force. Compared to 1.3 billion disciplined Chinese who don't play any of this multi-culti BS, we're just one confrontation away (no Euro based country has ever succeeded in a land war Asia) from defeat. At that point, the looming internal crisis erupts when we lose dollar reserve status, and a full scale civil war ensues.

But hopefully that's still a long ways off.

I’m cautiously optimistic about the Horowitz report. One key is that I don’t think it needs to be a total bombshell to get things moving. It just needs to reveal enough to justify (aka provide political cover for) further investigation. I suspect the FISA abuse was so flagrant that even if Horowitz minimizes it there will still be enough there to make possible a “we need to follow follow the facts where they lead” type argument for digging deeper. That’s when Barr appoints another special counsel, this time to go after the bad guys.
