The de Blasio Administration declared a public health emergency in select zip codes in Williamsburg, Brooklyn following a measles outbreak affecting the Orthodox Jewish community.
As part of the declaration, unvaccinated people living in the Williamsburg area who may have been exposed to measles will be required to receive the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine in order to protect others in the community and help curtail the ongoing outbreak.
Under the mandatory vaccinations, members of the City's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene will check the vaccination records of any person who may have been in contact with infected patients. Those who have not received the MMR vaccine or do not have evidence of immunity may be given a violation and could be fined $1,000.
"There's no question that vaccines are safe, effective and life-saving," said Mayor de Blasio. "I urge everyone, especially those in affected areas, to get their MMR vaccines to protect their children, families and communities."
The public health emergency declaration comes just as the city's department of health threatened to close yeshivas if non-vaccinated students are allowed to attend classes during the current measles outbreak.
The outbreak in the Orthodox Jewish community is now at 285 cases since it began last October.

Do your own research. Vaccine safety is questionable not to mention the MMR vaccine alone has remnants of 80 aborted fetuses.

Herd immunity is cool—the herd takes on any risk, which leaves the rest of us protected without taking the vaccination.
That is my personal position on why I don’t take the flu vaccine (for example), but at least I am not trying to propagandize others to either avoid or take vaccinations, or trying to use force to get them vaccinated.
The vaccine propagandists (can you say MSM, yes, I thought you could) must minimize any particular risk associated with any vaccine—and that risk is always non-zero (and will be minimized by big pharma).
Anti-vaxxers are only an issue when large numbers of people start to believe the anti-vaxxers on the issue of risk (regardless of whether they are right or wrong on the risks).
This is a classic “tragedy of the commons” issue.
Politicians need to lie about it—I get it—but here in the FRiendly confines of FR we should be straight with each other.

It is a know fact that 80 children died for the research & production of the MMR vaccine. LOL at your Wikipedia source. I’ve done plenty of research on this issue, and I don’t negotiate with moral degenerates who think the ends justify the means.

What is happening in NY is more likely a dry run on the concept of adult mandatory vaccinations as California is thinking about.

IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that any person who lives, works or resides within the 11205, 11206, 11221 and/or 11249 zip codes and who has not received the MMR vaccine within forty eight (48) hours of this Order being signed by me shall be vaccinated against measles unless such person can demonstrate immunity to the disease or document to the satisfaction of the Department that he or she should be medically exempt from this requirement.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the parent or guardian of any child older than six months of age who lives, works or resides within the 11205, 11206, 11221 and/or 11249 zip codes and who has not received the MMR vaccine within forty eight (48) hours of this order being signed by me shall cause such child to be vaccinated against measles unless such parent or guardian can demonstrate that the child has immunity to the disease or document that he or she should be medically exempt from this requirement.
