Last May, an elderly man was admitted to the Brooklyn branch of Mount Sinai Hospital for abdominal surgery. A blood test revealed that he was infected with a newly discovered germ as deadly as it was mysterious. Doctors swiftly isolated him in the intensive care unit.

The germ, a fungus called Candida auris, preys on people with weakened immune systems, and it is quietly spreading across the globe. Over the last five years, it has hit a neonatal unit in Venezuela, swept through a hospital in Spain, forced a prestigious British medical center to shut down its intensive care unit, and taken root in India, Pakistan and South Africa.

Recently C. auris reached New York, New Jersey and Illinois, leading the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to add it to a list of germs deemed “urgent threats.”

The man at Mount Sinai died after 90 days in the hospital, but C. auris did not. Tests showed it was everywhere in his room, so invasive that the hospital needed special cleaning equipment and had to rip out some of the ceiling and floor tiles to eradicate it.

“Everything was positive — the walls, the bed, the doors, the curtains, the phones, the sink, the whiteboard, the poles, the pump,” said Dr. Scott Lorin, the hospital’s president. “The mattress, the bed rails, the canister holes, the window shades, the ceiling, everything in the room was positive.”

C. auris is so tenacious, in part, because it is impervious to major antifungal medications, making it a new example of one of the world’s most intractable health threats: the rise of drug-resistant infections.

I use an ozone generator, of the size they use to remove the smoke smell from motel rooms, to kill off any bacteria, viruses, mold, or fungus spores in my house. Ozone can kill pretty much anything, including people — so, it's use requires a little care. I seal off a room, “bomb” it with ozone, wait a bit, ventilate, and voilà — a disease, allergen and odour-free room. Ozone is highly reactive; so, it disappears (turns back into ordinary Oxygen) in a short time, with absolutely zero residue.

No doubt, the UV light, mentioned by others, works too — except, the ozone isn't restricted to line-of-sight. Also, the ozone destroys odours.

What you are describing is for transmittable disease. Funguses do not spread from one patient to another.

That is a very inaccurate statement. Fungi can be transmitted directly from one person to another or indirectly.

Sure, but people aren't the vector for fungus in general: https://www.cdc.gov/fungal/diseases/index.html There are some exceptions, spore production in some fungi like ringworm helps the spread. But "C. auris does not germinate and produce spores like other fungi." see https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/quality/5-new-study-findings-on-emerging-fungus-candida-auris.html The main spread is the fungus itself from patient to patient via unclean hands or medical equipment. When it spreads patient to patient the patients are usually not in contact.

It would be like saying there's a patient zero for mad cow or toxoplasmosis.

Most spread is from breathing or feeding tubes: As of May 2017, recognized U.S. C. auris cases were concentrated in health care facilities in three separate geographic areas, and most cases were in chronically ill patients with long stays at high-acuity skilled nursing facilities (e.g., facilities providing mechanical ventilation).

It worked. Doesnt matter if a little gets swallowed. Isnt gonna hurt anything.

Use apple cider vinegar. About 1 part per 4 or 5 in water.

Which brought me to the thought of back in the old days when we used to use vinegar on our veggies at dinner time. Especially beets.

Also..before I forget. I do that about two to three times a week. In the meantime I rinse with water.

Sure got rid of the thrush though. Took a while to get rid of it, about a couple weeks.

Have to rinse your mouth with water each time you use a corti steroid inhalers. If you dont, you can get head aches and throat problems.

You can use vinegar, but even just water will help prevent thrush- if she gets thrush- she’ll have to take a medication to get rid of it- it’s very stubborn stuff- them ed gets rid of it pretty quick though

Sometimes, you need to attack on multiple fronts.

Ozone might not always be the solution, or even a solution; but, it has one advantage over aerosol sprays — no residue.
