There is a HUGE difference between venerating and worshipping a relic.
It’s just a journalist writing it though. I wouldn’t expect them to understand simple English wording and grammar.

This has been posted again at a saner hour of day, and that thread is already longer, but given the provocative headline, I thought it worth posting on this thread to.
Don’t expect journalists to accurately represent what is going on in Catholic Churches—especially on the more religious end of things. The headline seems deliberately provocative, or immensely ignorant.
In fairness to them, in English, adore is technically the form of honour done to God alone—worship was not always used as a synonym, and technically isn’t a synonym. It originally is the honorific proper to the mayor of a town, justice of the peace, or magistrates, and still occasionally used that way, particularly in places with greater English influence. An uncle of mine, who was mayor of a small town, tried to get his wife to use the proper nomenclature, but she didn’t buy into it (in fairness, she used to be mayor of a much bigger town).

It's been a long time since I was Catholic but unless something changed, Catholics don't
worship relics.
It used to be that reporters felt the need to have a basic understanding of a subject before they wrote about it.
Donald Trump may be worshiped as a god, but certainly not by Catholics.

Some of the comments on this thread remind me of the passage from the Gospels where the Pharisees claim that Jesus performs miracles using powers given to Him by Beelzebub.
His response was right on point: "OK -- so whose powers are YOU using when YOU heal the sick and make the lame walk?"
Forget about hearing a pin drop. You probably could have heard two atoms passing in the air just then.

Have catholics ever considered worshiping God, instead of hearts, Mary and all these people they have declared to be “saints”?
