There is a HUGE difference between venerating and worshipping a relic.

It’s just a journalist writing it though. I wouldn’t expect them to understand simple English wording and grammar.

I was the most anti catholic human on earth- then a miracle occurred- my family went to a xmas mass and were instantly converted -rabid anti catholic wife and eight kids- I was like- WHATS GOING ON GOD?
They instantly saw through wht my anger at my youthful catholic upbringing could not - TRUTH ON DISPLAY- I promised Jesus that I would never again criticize His church and instead try to heal because i didn’t want to ruin the fire my family had found for Jesus- ona on Easter vigil four years ago they were all baptized in front of a packed church that actually cheered! So I know where the comments come from regarding the veneration of saints- I was one of you- then I was healed - made whole again- and am proudly Catholic- my faith was founded by Jesus the Christ and is the only one so founded. The papacy or other issues do not concern me as I know it is all part of the prophetic times we are honored to live in.
They hated him first- Bless y’all.

This has been posted again at a saner hour of day, and that thread is already longer, but given the provocative headline, I thought it worth posting on this thread to.

Don’t expect journalists to accurately represent what is going on in Catholic Churches—especially on the more religious end of things. The headline seems deliberately provocative, or immensely ignorant.

In fairness to them, in English, adore is technically the form of honour done to God alone—worship was not always used as a synonym, and technically isn’t a synonym. It originally is the honorific proper to the mayor of a town, justice of the peace, or magistrates, and still occasionally used that way, particularly in places with greater English influence. An uncle of mine, who was mayor of a small town, tried to get his wife to use the proper nomenclature, but she didn’t buy into it (in fairness, she used to be mayor of a much bigger town).

Good f***ing grief! Are you KIDDING me!? I. Can’t even believe people in a civilized society would do this. It’s beyond weird.

It's been a long time since I was Catholic but unless something changed, Catholics don't worship relics.

It used to be that reporters felt the need to have a basic understanding of a subject before they wrote about it.

Donald Trump may be worshiped as a god, but certainly not by Catholics.

I dunno. I’ll stick with the shroud of Turin, Veil of Veronica and any number of possible holy grails. Maybe those Oak Island guys will find the Arc Of The Covenant?

His heart is being venerated, not worshiped.

Close but no cigar, er, ah spicy seasonings (-:

It’s ‘goulash’ in English from the Hungarian word ‘gulyás’. Funny - it’s the same word for animal farmer (herdsman).

The human heart is just a blood pump of fleshy muscle. Flesh and blood doesn’t enter into eternity. Don’t worship its remains even from a saint—worship the sacred heart of Jesus in our hearts.
