A military intervention to oust Venezuelan strongman Nicolás Maduro remains a very serious option for the United States, according to President Trumps national security team.
Obviously, thats a result that no one would like to see but clearly one that is seriously considered as events unfold, a senior administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told reporters Friday evening.

“we should have a standing army”
“Why?”
“Because that way we save money on seats”
Lots of mixed feelings on this. Hate to see the people suffering but is it really our concern?
I’ll support Trump’s descion.
French Guiana is just down the beach from Venezuela.
Id pay good money to see the Foreign Legion fighting the Cubans in Venezuela.
No. Just no. President Trump has got to stop listening to those who are pedaling this kind of crap.
1. They may be socialists, but what has Venezualas government done to us?
2. How many troops will we send? How many casualties are acceptable? How much will it cost?
3. Is invading a country not an act of war? When did Congress declare war on the government of Venezuela?
4. Why is Venezuela so important but securing our border with Mexico isnt?
5. I thought Trump said no more foreign interventions and nation-building ? I thought he said were going to rebuild America?
“speaking on condition of anonymity” these days translates to “stuff we just made up”.
Anyone still trusting the media fails a competence check.

Air drop weapons into rebel areas...
No troops needed.
I don’t believe’anonymous sources’.
POTUS is not a war monger, and his neocon enemies are always pushing for this kind of Schiff. They get kickbacks on the funding.
Recruit the immigrants, train them, arm them, and give them Venezuela if they win.
If they lose, immigration problem solved.
“I thought Trump said no more foreign interventions and nation-building?”
Unlike the Middle East, the people in Venezuela have had and know freedom and capitalism, and want it back.

Better idea: spend the money at home, or - even better - use it to start paying down our debt.
We may have to do what we did in the Dominican Republic in 1965 — go in, force out the ousted president, install the legitimate leader, and go home.
I hope this is not going to lead us into the third world war.

Fine. Why is debt-burdened US borrowing money from China to pay for invasion of Venezuela?

We dont have to do that at all. There are scores of countries with bad or oppressive regimes worldwide. The idea that US has to intervene in these countries may have appealed to George Bush, but Trump campaigned against it, he said it was time to focus on Americas problems
Neocons want war. What the frug is America doing? Where does it say in the Constitution that the American military shall be used to fight in foreign wars for humanitarian causes?
