The headline of Jonathan Zimmerman's article in the Washington Post, "How Trump finally turned Republicans against McCarthyism," alerted me to the possibility that Zimmerman has never spoken to a Republican in the wild.
The subhead, "After nearly 70 years, Republicans have stopped defending Joe McCarthy," confirmed my suspicions. Zimmerman insists that the "new consensus" among Republicans is that "McCarthyism was, in fact, a massive, unpardonable assault on freedom, fairness and the rule of law." This is nuts. In reality, McCarthy's status among Republicans is higher now than it has been since his untimely death in 1957.

The bible bids us “Be filled with the Holy Spirit.” It is as there were a supernatural plenum from which we can choose to let fill us, or not.
The devil will walk over a situation where not enough people are filled enough. It’s something that, very broadly speaking, “We The People” (and no I don’t mean the little corner of them that is FR) opted for already.
It’s the evangelist who carries the answer. Holy Spirit pressure has to exceed Satan pressure in order to see a godly victory in a situation, to speak in a physical metaphor. With enough Holy Spirit pressure, even if the government can’t preach gospel in schools, practically it won’t matter because kids will be talking about it on their own.
Drew Pearson (off the top of my head), had a serious connection to a guy named Barnes, a hardcore leftist is not Communist Party guy. Pearson was the perfect conduit for anti-anti-communist propaganda operations (re internal security investigations) headed by Nixon and McCarthy, among others.
Pearson later recruited Jack Anderson, a WW2 draft dodger who claimed to be a Quaker, but whose activities for the Left were anything but “pacifist”. the Pearson-Anderson “Washington Merry Go Run” syndicated national column was used to beat both Nixon and McCarthy ad infinitum.
Anderson was pro-Sandinista as much as he was anti-Reagan and covered up their Marxist domination of the FSLN in Nicaragua (as did Wash. Post Latin American correspondent/ now chief WP foreign correspondent editor, Karen de Young).
The Wash. Post was significantly infiltrated by assorted leftist liberals, Marxists, socialists, etc. some of whom only “came out” in the 90’s or later (Osnos, unfortunately; Hemenway - good writing on SE Asia for the most part; Greider; etc. These included Tad Szulc and Larry Stern, but there are about a dozen more WP writers/editors whose leftist propaganda writings are detailed in “Covert Cadre: Inside the Institute for Policy Studies”, S. Steven Powell, 1987, Green Hill.
PS: See page 90 of Evans’s book on Barnes, where his name is listed along with James Aronson, Julia Older Bazer, and Peter Rhodes. Evans notes that Bazer was the sister of Drew Pearson assistant Andrew Older, a Communist agent.
Good stuff on Barnes, etc. Rep. McDonald went after Anderson with a vengeance and put some damning stuff in the Congressional Record. I might eventually find my copies of it as I have a Jack Anderson file somewhere.
Just using Judas as an example that because one is a loyal part of the inner circle for a period, that doesn’t mean they can’t won’t change....of course, it’s easier to back one’s horse by attacking the facet of the argument (that makes no real change to the argument) that one sees a potential crack in....Ann has not been a friend of Trump and has turned into a concern troll.
As if the enemy doesn't know that. The people that don't seem to know those things are the supporters that will hear nothing that questions the President's actions.
We need to get enough good, Godly people on the bench to toss out this anti-Christian agenda that has been on a roll for far too long. Too many people in this country have been brainwashed into believing that the government should have NO religious influence. It’s no wonder as soon as the leftist judicial tyrants yanked out Christian prayer from schools in blatant unconstitutional fashion, the country’s moral and social fabric was ripped apart.
Problem was that it wasn’t just those who “had” vs. those who “have.” In virtually every instance, these folks were ALL working to undermine the country. I found it amusing seeing its adherents acting stupid and claiming to be just simple “liberals.”
It is reminiscent of Mohammadans and those propagandists trying to separate the active terrorists from the rest of the flock, using the phrase “radical Islam.” Even people like the Turkish Dictator Erdogan are clear in letting out a bit of truth that obliterates the propaganda, “There is no radical Islam, only Islam.” With the left, there is no separating radical vs. non-radical, it’s all the same with the same end goals. Just because one is more boisterous about it doesn’t mean the more quiet ones are opposed to them. It’s all a dog and pony show.
As for FDR, he discovered a gold mine to ensure Democrat power: breeding dependency upon government. That’s why their agenda has been so evil for so long, with devastating consequences.
Yeah, because we really need to know that the wall isnt built. We are all a bunch of dumb, toothless deplorable. Next thing we know she will announce she took a job with Hillary
Well you are certainly the counter to Trump haters.
You presume that the average voter is as well informed as you are, they arent so get over it.
Thanks for hose details

This is the point where I would fairly ask how this “virtually every instance” was determined. And if it was possible to determine, why past associations weren’t then overlooked in favor of this near infallible present determination.
FDR is also far older than any of this UAC history. Perhaps this was a case of noisily shutting the barn door after the horses were not just fled but out of sight?
I say again the problem is not anything other than that Christianity faded back. Perhaps it had been spoiled by being protected by sheer popularity. The result was that it knew, at best, only how to fight trivial devils, like smoking and gambling and cussing etc.
I am wondering why Christianity was so weak in America that when bible messages couldn’t go in by means of government employees, they stopped going in at all.
We know how hard it is to stop the kids from being involved with whatever the latest superhero or cartoon fad is. Mom! Dad! I want the Disney Frozen gear! Over and over till they give in. Why can’t gospel get this kind of allegiance? Maybe because gospel is so powerful that it will knock your pants off once you’ve landed in the middle of it? Because it’s not just nice morals, it is a really scary kind of power to those who aren’t used to it? It really is. There’s a God both out there and in here both talking and listening, and He scoffs at the plans of the nations.
But even though I’m talking like this, God knows how to unwind conundrums like this. If Federal government had become the nationally watched bully pulpit (and Barack Obama used it that way) then all God had to do to get the idea before many, many eyes was raise up Donald Trump and (perhaps) Mike Pence. We will notice that Donald Trump frankly doesn’t give a hoot what nasty things are said about him, he just does what he thinks best. A gospel witness with the hide of a rhinoceros is needed, and this is what America may have gotten in Donald Trump.
Determined by evidence. Even at the time, the media was lying about what was going and trying to make innocents out of the guilty. An infamous episode was with a Black woman named Annie Lee Moss. She played dumb during her investigation, claiming they meant another person, but it was determined she was a Communist agent working for the federal government.
In the George Clooney movie he did about leftist propagandist Edward R. Murrow, they played up Moss as an innocent (but hilariously and hypocritically, Clooney admitted as an aside in the commentary that Moss WAS guilty !).
Subversive elements investigative committees began as far back as 1918.
But the leftist element realized that if you got control of the government, you could start to transform the country (along with getting control of education and entertainment industries). This pre-dated FDR, but the Great Depression (which was willfully exacerbated by FDR and his failed policies) gave a lot of impetus to begin to remove private-sector and Christian solutions to problems and place them more in the realm of government control. Those that stood in the way of that transfer of massive government expansion had to be removed.
I’ve often cited the case of Black GOP Congressman Oscar De Priest of Chicago. He was bitterly opposed to the fledgling welfare state policies of FDR, because he believed they would be utterly devastating to the Black Community (at the time, he was the only Black Congressman. The Dems had disenfranchised Southern Blacks, who would’ve sent several more members from that region, all Republican). He knew those programs/policies were designed to breed dependence and would literally enslave vulnerable Blacks in short order. He was prophetic, of course. But the Dems worked very hard to remove him from office, and were successful in the 1934 midterms (he tried to get back the office, but failed).
