To all on this thread.....
The answer is simple. In a year from now, he’ll be running full steam trying to get re-elected. There will be no tariffs then either. He doesn’t want to come across or be branded as a “racist” during an election. He has hopes to carry AZ and NV.
He’s not carrying either state. And he’s not carrying Florida. And there’s a chance he may not carry Texas or Georgia, either.
We had our chance. The Chamber of Commerce played chicken with him and he blinked.
It’s going to come down to some hard choices, very soon. It’ll have to be a Governor, somewhere, that says enough and have the people of that state rally around to protect, whoever that might be.
I also suspect the China trade negotiations are playing a major role in this whole thing. I would not be surprised to see major automakers closing plants in Mexico and opening new ones in China soon.
I think that the cheap labor lobby/interests have gotten to him, via their cronies in Congress, from both parties. Weve been fighting our own party, the R team, for years now on immigration, amnesty, etc. This is one issue that they will not let go of, will not budge from repeatedly forcing it on the country.
....and Floriduh.
I think the real point is he has little support in the senate for closing the border and less in the House. He cannot go it alone.
I am beyond tired of my “government”. Just got back from Beaufort SC. The first articles of secession in 1860 were passed in the home two up from where we stayed. From there they went to Charlestown where they were ratified. SC was the first to do it. Love to see it happen again because this bunch is useless, more beholden to lobbyists and foreigners than to the citizens of the republic.
