Trump Gives Mexico One-Year Warning to 'Stop the Drugs'
And one might ask why live in the U.S. where they have several families bunched up in one apartment, food costs are sky-high along with every other expense...when they could stay in Mexico, each family have their own home, grow their own delicious food, and enjoy life in their own native country?
American (and Western) movies and TV programs are sold all over the world. Immigrants all over the world are propagandize into believing that the streets are paved with gold in America (and the West), and that EVERYONE is wealthy in the US.
While I have no knowledge of Mexican immigrants, I know a fair number of legal African immigrants to Canada. Almost to a one, they tell me that the impression they had of Canada and the States was that everyone was wealthy and that getting ahead was easy! Now that they are here, they realize that the $15/hour minimum wage (which IS wealthy in Africa) barely provides enough for one person, let alone a family. I'm sure that it is the same with many Mexicans and South Americans. They do not realize that the West merely provide the OPPORTUNITY to succeed, NOT the GUARANTEE of success.
As Jordan Peterson puts it, the West provides equality of opportunity but so many demand equality of OUTCOME, something that is inherently unfair.
Hadn’t thought about that part of it. You’re right—Hollywood propaganda spread throughout the world.
Sad, isn’t it, that so many millions have left their own native lands to come to the U.S. for “riches”...when the majority of them already had a wonderful life filled with family and friends in their homeland.
What I found with these Africans is that, though they were generally much better off in Canada than ‘back home’, a number were quite disappointed with their lot, here in Canada. It is not something specific to immigrants, it is generally ‘the human condition’. Generally, we are never satisfied with what we have and we covet what others have. Oh yes, I suffer that quite often. “Why does the crook live a good life and get away with it, when I suffer so many hurts?” I think it is more acute among the poorer immigrants because all they know of the West is what they have seen on Western TV show shown in their part of the world.
Maybe it's time to bring Pompeo in on the discussions... he's a smart guy and might be able to add a feasible military solution to the problem. Same with Bolton... We're closer to war with Mexico than we'd like to think...
We need to colonize Mexico and put a lid on it for about 100 years.
The last thing we need is to take over a third world country and their problems. Isn’t Puerto Rico enough pain for American taxpayers?
I said colonize, not make it a territory! Do you know the difference?
Liberal fools associate that with ‘stealing resources... as if ‘resources’ made any difference in the wealth of a country. For example, Africa has every natural resource known to man... Japan has none. ZERO. ZIP. NADA. Japan doesn't even have gold, diamonds, oil, iron etc... they have nothing. Which country is first world and which continent is at the bottom of third world hellholes? Yep, Japan's first world.
Oh, and 'cheap labor' hurts a country... stops innovation and invention. It's why the North was able to beat the South in the civil war... all that Southern 'cheap slave labor' made the region backward and weak.
Here's what we want: Mexico to stop their people from invading our country. If they don't stop them, we will... and yes, that means at some point down the line (if all our peaceful efforts fail) there will be a war.
You are a Whiny dreamer GOP Establishment hack. Sometimes I think you are actually Karl Rove.
LOL...I don't think Tokyo Rove would call for war, over Mexico's drug and illegals invasion. He and his compadre, Jorge Boosh, welcomed both.
Sometimes I've wondered if YOU may be Rove, cv.
Recall, my suggestion was shutting down commerce for just ONE WEEK. If GM or other large companies couldn't handle a week shortage and had to lay off thousands (unlikely), then the COO has NO idea what inventory is about. I highly doubt that such large multi-national conglomerates don't have warehouses of extra parts, even if bought from Mexico.
No, I don't have the expertise nor knowledge of such large companies, so you could be correct. However, I'd be surprised if they don't have backup inventory to last a week. With the migration crisis, I say it's worth a try.
That’s funny. They’re not gonna stop the drugs. And if they do they’ll just move somewhere else. The American illegal drug market is over $100 BILLION dollars. Markets like that WILL BE FED. From Mexico, from China, from Canada. The profits are just too large to be ignored.
Towards the bottom of the article, there is a section titled 'An Example of Disruption'. It states that in 1977, Toyota required a part from a sole supplier. The supplier's plant burned, leaving Toyota SOL. They had only one day's inventory and had to shutter production. Luckily for Toyota, a supplier to this supplier was able to retool and produce the part in two days. Toyota lost $15 BILLION and 70,000 vehicles in production. Is the US auto industry this tied into JIT? Who knows. Remember, these guys are concerned about saving fractions of a cent per unit because those cost savings affect THEIR bonuses, so they may well be!
With Trump giving warning to Mexico, it also gives a heads up to American producers to make contingency plans. I don't hold much hope that they would, as so many senior execs (at least the ones in energy and O&G in Calgary that I've heard speak) are gamblers, risk takers.
I do like the idea of one week. Personally, I think that the week starting May 5 would send a message. I would love to see Dhimmi heads exploding into their Coronas (with lime, of course)!
Me too. And black tar heroin keeps crossing the border, all of it from Mexico.
