Tesla on Wednesday reported a massive drop in auto sales for last quarter, though the company said it's confident it will still reach its annual sales goal. About 63,000 vehicles were delivered to customers in the first three months of 2019 — a 31% drop compared to the prior quarter. The total sales figures included about 50,900 Model 3 sedans, Tesla's best-selling vehicle, and 12,100 luxury Model S sedans and Model X SUVs.

“Can anyone tell me how one takes an electric vehicle cross country?”

Bring a diesel generator along on a trailer. Run it on waste oil. Save the environment.

I’ve always been EV-curious until I saw the winter climate range range figures. Yeeeeeeeesh. I’ll be sticking with good old gasoline.

“I’m sure it’s a fine car but $100k is just too high to be like a Chevy or Ford. “

If you compare specs you will find your errors.

This is pretty neat to play with. But man, the route I put in from NJ to AZ had me charging almost 10 1/2 hours. That’s a lot of waiting around.

For the first time I see multiple Tesla charging stations being installed at a local shopping center.

Tesla is a Ponzi scheme and under IRS investigation.

why in tarnation would anybody want one of these deathtraps?

Fastest acceleration in any production car in world history, and rather luxurious interior when you do it. If you want to smoke the muscle cars while comfortably sipping on your Starbucks, this is the car to do it in. Collect a few pinks until the local kids figure it out.

Most of the short fall is due to cars in transit. Tesla sold more cars overseas last quarter.

Higher interest rates from the Fed could also be a factor.

The guys who own those trailers are equal opportunity.

They will probably tow any vehicle if they are paid.

I live in a town of 2,600. It has one free charging station. Every time I walk by, the same Volt is sitting there plugged in.
I’m starting to wonder if it belongs to a Town Trustee.

Everyone who wanted one, has one.

See AMC Pacer.

Until they do an SUV or pick-up or minivan.

Tesla quality issues:

Blurry backup camera.

Rust.

You need the touchscreen to adjust cruise control.

Issues with paint finish.

Door, window, and trunk defects.

Total touchscreen failure.

Getting locked out of the car.

Shutdowns while driving.

And catching on fire.

Lol.

Here’s Barron’s take on the stock today:

“Tesla stock has been mired in a two-year trading range, with a top near $385 per share, and a bottom near $245 per share. It is a massive range—investors could have made almost 40% by buying at, say, $260 and selling near $360. Or they could have made more than 25% by selling at $360 and buying back at $260. Buy and hold, however, has been a roller-coaster ride to nowhere.

So who’s right? Nobody yet. At some point, the range will break one way or the other, and then we’ll have an answer.”

On work days, I park in a municipal garage. Several years ago, two charging stations on each floor were installed. Every evening when I leave the same all electric Chevrolet is parked in one I drive by to the exit. The woman is always sitting in it waiting for God knows what. I always cringe when my club plays a course with electric carts. Odds are decent you get one that wants to quit around the 14th hole on a course with medium to heavy topography.
