I’m Arizona Congresswoman Debbie Lesko. I’m a survivor of domestic violence from my ex-husband, who I left over 25 years ago.
I am voting no on the Democrats’ version of the Violence Against Women Act because it is a radical bill that I believe will actually hurt women more.
This bill, under the weight of federal law, would force domestic violence shelters to take in biological males who identify as women.
This could be in showers. This could be in beds. Can you think of this? We have women that are placed in shelters that have already been abused, some of them sexually abused, but now the federal government is going to require these shelters to take in biological males and sometimes place them right next to these women?

I presume the constitution grant of power to the Feds, to regulate this, is the commerce clause.
The federal government is totally out of control. It would be one thing if it was competent, but every institution is utterly failed. Debt is out of control, justice is “pay for play,” politics has turned into lawfare, none of the players has a mote of honesty.

Men have violence against them all the time, only men get drafted in time of war and the majority of veterans who have died violently in Iraq and Afghanistan by far and away are men, and it is men who occupy the long list of dead policemen across the country for the last two years as a Black lives Matter initiative.
I am voting NO on Violence Against Women Act because I am a man who has been re-socialized by the “Feminist Movement” which taught me that women are strong enough to fend for themselves.
So these weak kneed whining women can now live with their ability to become self protected like men. Just Chut up and do for yourselves, you can’t have it both ways.

I agree that it should be a bill that protects all, sex be damned. I am a female lawyer, and I do DV work, but I have defended abused husbands too. It is pathetic the way people believe relationships are based on domination. Sick.
The “trans” “we MUST BE ACCEPTED as we pretend to be” movement is as insane as the obsession it’s adherents are afflicted with.
Do the states pass laws any more? This is not a federal issue.

I do not know. My big fear is when i finally go to the doctor( after 8 years), an obvious heshe will enter the exam room. You know 6’4”, 250, in a skirt and pigtails. I hope i don’t have to run out of there, paper gown flying.
Because that is not the topic of her concern. This is about a bill requiring that shelters that provide services for abused WOMEN accept transwhatevertheycallthemselves as being the same as biological females.
Should a bill be presented dealing with domestic violence against men and shelters for such victims comes up. I am sure someone will demand the same.
The act is a bad bill for other reasons as well. At least she is opposing it-if just for one reason.
A man in a dress who is abused in a donestic relationship is being assaulted b his gay boyfriend. But the womens’ shelter is being attacked as ‘antigay’.
