Why it matters: The South Bend, Ind. mayor is generating more social media interest on a per article basis than any of his rivals, according to data from social media analytics company Newswhip. And that's just one of many signs of intensifying interest in "Mayor Pete."

Statement makes no sense when:
A. The top three candidates in Iowa right now (Biden, Sanders, Buttigieg) are all white males.
B. The top two candidates nationally right now (Biden, Sanders) are both white males.
C. White males (Biden, Sanders, O'Rourke, Buttigieg, Hickenlooper, etc.) currently combine for over two-thirds of the Democratic primary polling support nationally.
