The Alliance of American Football decided to suspend all football operations on Tuesday, according to ProFootballTalk.
The news comes just two weeks shy of the leagues initial postseason run. PFT reports that the league hasnt folded but it seems to be moving in that direction.

The AAF has yet to release a statement on the future of the league or its suspension of operations.

The only thing I don’t understand is why they keep trying.
This NHL dude put up $70M to prop up the league. Is there any due diligence there? He’s lost most of that investment. Gotta be pretty nice to toss money around like that.
It’s a shame. I actually enjoyed watching those games.
Hungry players who are desperate for one shot at the NFL aren’t going to be doing any kneeling, that’s for sure.
I figured that as well.
I’ve been watching the games mostly out of a football jones, but boring is the best word to describe them. They would catch a pass and basically just fall down, or take a handoff and stop as soon as they were about the crash the line.
Yep, B-O-R-I-N-G!
I watched one game and the referees threw more flags than a gorilla at a 4th of July BBQ. Ya’ think they’d have given it time to breathe.

Agreed. I’ve banned watching NFL games but was watching Alliance games and was liking what I saw.
It’s too bad they couldn’t make it all the way to the end of the season.
I liked it, too. They were starting to play some pretty good football after the QBs being so rusty in the beginning. I thought it had NFL backing. Made a lot of sense to me to be this time of year, too.
Since I gave up on watching Football years ago who or what is the AAF?
A pilot league that was essentially minor league NFL.
And if you ask me, a contrived last-minute construct designed to take the wind out of the sails of the new XFL.
We did what we could but, alas, twas not enough.
Go XFL! (Too soon?)
:: essentially minor league NFL ::
Trying to supplant the REAL minor league. The juggernaut that is the NCAA.
It’s for players that weren’t drafted, or aren’t wanted by any NFL team. Kind of a second-chance league for washouts, has-beens, and never-have-beens.
I’ve been watching the games also, and in addition to the things you mentioned, most of the receivers appear to be butter-fingered. Either that, or they lack “ball skills” altogether. Lots of dropped balls that appear to be eminently catchable.
I didnt even know it was in operation yet and the promotion, marketing and web presence of the league was a complete joke.
Vinnie Mac is licking his chops, one less threat down to the XFL making a real go of it.
Not having the games over the air except for the first Saturday didn’t help at all.
Folding? Before the NFL?
