Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) is set on Tuesday to unveil a constitutional amendment to abolish the Electoral College and allow for the election of presidents by popular vote, The Daily Beast has learned.
The amendment is supported by other Democrats in the chamber, an aide said, including Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and senior members of the Senate Judiciary Committee: Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).

I don’t know.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_voting_rights_in_the_United_States
This ‘timeline’ says White Male property owners could vote, 1789.
It then says black men in some northern states lost the right to vote in 1792.
Which means ‘white’ in 1789 is a lie.
Segregation/Jim Crow begins in 1880. A black man votes in 1870 after Constitutional amendment.
A lot of time to look at to determine when black men could first vote (period) and when that was stripped.
When one Amendment comes up, doesn’t it open the door fo more?
I don't want CW2, but it looks like it will happen...
It also needs 3/4 of the STATES to RATIFY it-—doesn’t it???
No Cupcake, It ain’t.
I don't think so. I think democRATs are too stupid to see that far ahead. I think what they're doing will bring down the country, but that they're doing it to merely stay in office. The pendulum swings back, and they'll do whatever necessary to stop it.
They're useless and hard core unemployable and want to keep their jobs. They see the handwriting on the wall.
What they’re really saying is this: You people in fly-over country, and all those red-states - we’ve decided that your vote shouldn’t matter. Same with some of those small blue states, your vote doesn’t count either.
What would be the next logical step for the socialists? Eliminate the US Senate? They’d probably attempt to make the same stupid flawed argument for it. Can’t have Rhode Island having 2 votes when California has 2 votes also!
The notion that we have elected officials submitting such a bill just screams how far off track we are as a country.
Now you just have to convince 3/4 of the people in 3/4 of the states to voluntarily give up the value of their vote to let California and NYC pick the president for them.
Good luck! Get out there and stump for it, kids!
If something like this were to pass, civil war II would ensue. Rural and small town America WILL NOT sit idly by while LA County, Chicago, NY and FL elect our president. No local LEO or US Military will lift a finger to stop the overthrow of DC and the killing, if necessary of those in congress behind this. The swamp will get really bloody really fast.
Hawaii surrenders their vote.
Notice its CA and NY leading the charge on a clearly unconstitutional law.
I read about a Dem strategy to create more states; #MeToo, how about eastern Washington, California, Oregon, upstate New York and downstate Illinois?
It can't be said any clearer than that.
One person (dead, illegal, non-citzen, multiple IDs) one vote.
Gillibrand, whose father was a big wheel in NXIVM. Wonder what skeletons are in her closet.
The Article V state legislature movement now has 15 conservative state legislatures fully signed up (and many more single chambers with even more coming on) to push for conservative amendments such as peacetime federal budget balancing, term limits, recall, nothing even remotely resembling a liberal issue.
The 15 states already signed onto Article V can pretty much block any liberal amendment in the ratification phase but it will never get there.
Most every American I’ve ever met when they first hear of abolishing the EC quickly reverse any support when asked if they want NY-Chi-LA choosing their President. They get the idea quickly.
What this does do is show the desperation of Democrats:
* Abolish EC
* Lower voting age to 16
* Flood the USA with illegals and register them to vote
* Ballot harvesting
* Diebold, GEMS, corrupt elections officers
These types of actions and issues point out that Democrats are in a panic.
Either she is a liar or just extremely stupid.
In either case, it's irrelevant, since it's a federation, not a democracy.
Democracy happens within each of the several states when the people vote for their Governor.
The federal government is a union of the states, not of the people. It's the states that vote for the federal President, not the people.

Before you dismiss the idea that small states won’t go for this, look at Dumbass Delaware. All democrat controlled and they approved the idea of presidential popular vote this legislative session.
No small state Senator should vote for this no matter what their party.
