Mexico's top immigration official said Monday the country will not order the militarization of the border with Guatemala as caravans of residents from Central American countries make their way north.
Interior Secretary Olga Sánchez Cordero said Mexico will regulate and provide security to migrants from Central America, El Universal newspaper reported.
She added that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador's government is "not repressive" and won't militarize its southern border "under any circumstances."
Sánchez Cordero's comments follow López Obrador's vow to respond with "peace and love" to U.S. threats to close the U.S.-Mexico border.

Mexico has promises and guarantees from China, who is the perpetrator of this entire operation through their 3rd party sock puppet nations in this hemisphere.
President Trump should threaten to close down the border.
And some hefty fees on wire transfers for those wiring money back to Mexico from the USA!
The time for talk and threats is over. Close the border it’s time for the president to take action.
I doubt that GITMO is big enough. Perhaps enough for convicted murderers, violent rapists (not the under age consensual sex/rape), and heavy weight drug dealers. Except a really great idea might be to transfer GITMO folks to a similar prison in the Aleutian Islands. Serve those tropical trouble makers right, all that snow and cold.
Several years ago when people were discussing how to make Mexico pay for the wall, I suggested charging a 2 or 3% fee for sending money from here. Start that now, and then increase to 10% until they get their southern border issue under control. I have crossed that border going south. Many miles are jungle and rain forest and not easy to travel with small children. Where we crossed on a major highway, the border was well militarized by Guatemalan soldiers in uniform. This was in the 1960s. They should be able to stem these caravans of women and children with their own military—both Mexican and Guatemalan.
The ports of entry are the major drug and human smuggling routes, and the roads the major drug smuggling routes.
Shut it down all for one week, or shut down just incoming. Tell these Marxists that if they don’t stop the caravans, you’ll shut it own two weeks next time. Let these people pile up South of the border, and let them stink up the place...

How about we stop the $290 million in US aid to Mexico immediately.

On an immediate basis, the single-most effective action the US can take is shutting down remittances. Doing so will cut the head off the Mexican snake. Include any third-countries acting as a cutout to Mexican recipients.
Remittances are big business here and bigger business to Mexico. No surprise the media largely ignores the unregulated and unreported stream of monies leaving the US.
Per one readily available source, in 2016 worldwide remittances from the US amounted $547B. No doubt in one form or the other remittances also facilitate money laundering.
Looking ahead, not a little irony to be found in drug mules gaining alternative employment humping cash South.
