President Donald Trump's special envoy to Venezuela warned that the administration could impose financial sanctions against Russia if it continues to meddle in Venezuela.
Elliott Abrams said he has already delivered a list of options to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, including diplomatic pressure and economic sanctions, that can be employed against Russia if it continues to send military personnel to Caracas.
The Trump administration ratcheted up its warnings Friday against Russia and other countries who may be considering sending military personnel to Venezuela by calling the action a direct threat to peace and security in the region.
Pompeo earlier warned that the United States wouldn't "stand idly by" as Russians sent troops into Venezuela. Trump was even more forceful when asked about the Russian activity during his meeting Wednesday with Guaido's wife.
"Russia has to get out," he said.

Venezuela and Russia are allies. Nothing we can do about it.
After different sanctions applied nearly monthly over multiple minor or outright ridiculous reasons including Trump collusion the general mood in Russia is bring it on.
To think it would make any dissonance between the government and the people is simply stupid. It works the opposite way and more so every single time.
Russia is allies with Maduro..as well as Iran, Nicaragua,Cuba, Yemen and a few Julias/Ethel Rosenberg fans on FR.

Yep. Overall a good thing unless combined with constant meddling in Europe and Asia.
This, a couple more hardball towards Germany and China and in a couple of years the Eastern hemisphere would put informal sanctions on US dollar.
That would put a dent on some. Or maybe a crack... or ruin.

How is it any related? Although why not. I don’t think it would take much time for them to put theirs in Cuba. And Cubans would be more enthusiastic about the idea than Latvians for sure.
