Every year, I write to honor my sister, Terri Schiavo, on March 31st, the anniversary of her death. For those who do not remember, Terri, at the age of 26, experienced a still inexplicable collapse resulting in a severe brain-injury. As a consequence of her brain injury, she was unable to swallow using conventional utensils, and like many Americans required nutrition and hydration by feeding tube in order to live.
Terri did not have a medical directive specifying who would make her health care decisions in the event she was incapable of making them herself. Therefore, it was her husband, Michael Schiavo, who was appointed by the court to be her medical caretaker and was ostensibly the only person who would decide what type of care, if any, Terri would receive.
Initially, my family did not anticipate this would be an issue. But that changed after Michael obtained a million-dollar medical malpractice settlement on Terri and his behalf. Before the settlement, Michael discussed continuing rehabilitation. Afterwards, he tried to deny her antibiotics when Terri came down with a urinary tract infection. But when my family sued, he relented...

Chap stick? Huh? What? LOL!
Bless you and all the others.
May he burn in hell.
Boy was that a fight here whew
This showed the callousness of the state in thinking denying sustenance to someone was justified because death was euphoric...
Government is truly evil
Also remember that unbelievable as it sounds, Jesse Jackson sided with the Schindler family.
Did her a$$hole “husband” ever let her family know where she is buried?
I mentioned Terri in a thread here just yesterday. We have tolerated abortion, the murder of Terri, an innocent invalid (and many others), and now we’re tolerating infanticide. We speak up, but that’s all we do, and it has no effect.
The murder of helpless people is now legal. We even pay for it with our tax dollars in some cases, and we do not withhold our taxes in protest.
The Founders resisted paying taxes for a breakfast beverage when they believed they were treated unfairly.
We have come a long way.
Bump
Jeb did try to help but he didnt take that last bold step of bravery to save her. He caved in to the murderous weasels when he could have been a hero and taken control of the situation with his authority as governor. Oh well...

They also appealed to Jeb’s impotent brother, the “most powerful man in the world” and he too was too chicken s.hi.t to do anything. 2 pathetic weasels.
I said at the time that I would remember that if Jeb ever tried to run for higher office. Apparently he thought people have short memories...
Well I hope her sorry excuse for a husband has had a miserable life as well as the courts that allowed this. Her parents and family were willing to take over her care....just damn
Her husband cold cocked her as she was exiting the bathroom.
BTTT in memory of Terri Shiavo.
the similarity to Dave Davis of Hillsdale County, Michigan is striking. He took out insurance policies on his wife of two days. He injected her with a muscle relaxant that broke down to undetectable metabolites. He bashed her head on a rock saying she fell from a horse. The family believed none of it. A State Trooper kept on the case, and finally there was a test to determine where the metabolites came from. Dave ran, but was eventually found in American Samoa. He is serving life. I always wondered if Terry’s husband had researched the same chemicals, but didn’t get the job done. look up Dave Davis of Hillsdale, Michigan.
Wasn’t there someone here on the boards who was related to her, back then?
To this day, that poor woman’s death haunts me.
There are some things one never gets over, especially when its traumatic and unjust. You just learn to live along side of it because it never, ever goes away.
I do hope and pray her loved ones have found some semblance of peace in their broken hearts.
And I hope someday, when we all rise from the dead, that that family can all rejoice together.
Our health care system is vicious.
Diana - I'm with you on that. I will never forget, either!
