There are no iron laws in politics, but a few things come close. One is that prosperity elects presidents. If, come election day, voters feel they're better off than they were and think they're likely to get better, incumbent presidents win even if they had nothing to do with it.
I am firmly convinced the economy will be humming in November of 2020, barring acts of God and acts of war. Trump can't interfere with the Lord, but he can certainly keep us out of war, and he will. And the tax regime he installed, the regulatory relief he's providing, and the international markets he's opening are all powerful stimulants. The Federal Reserve isn't going to rain on this parade, especially not with Stephen Moore joining it. Animal spirits are flowing. There's a lot of rational exuberance. If you ever wanted to go into business, now would be the time to do it.
This all makes a pretty economic pie, and there's a big scoop of ice cream to top it off. It's something Trump had nothing to do with. It's the best economic news of all. Productivity is rising! James Pethokoukis spells it all out in The Week.
This is profoundly good news. It means all the creativity of Silicon Valley is infiltrating American business, and the long-term consequences could be as drastic as the switch form muscle to steam, and from steam to electricity. It's that big.
All this means there's going to be 3% economic growth in 2020, maybe 4%. That means Trump is re-elected.

On the other hand, yes, we can stay out of other countries and not be agressive about it as we have been in the past. We never HAD TO go to Vietnam, Iraq, et-al.
But if we do find ourselves at war, I think who we elect as president will be the least of our problems, kinda like France in WWII...
Liberals may claim that they hate him, but most of them really don't. The truth is that they love to hate him, which means they can't imagine the thought of him not being there.
To them, voting Trump out of office is the equivalent of an old western film where the good guy shoots the bad guy ten minutes into a two-hour movie. It defeats the whole point of hanging around for the rest of the movie -- and leaves the viewer feeling ripped off when he leaves the theater.
The election is 18 months away and the opponent is unknown. Anybody who is betting on any candidate at this point is a fool.
From his keyboard to Gods ears.

Liberals may claim that they hate him, but most of them really don’t.
They dont hate him nearly as much as they hate us for electing him.

Trump defeated ALL of the contenders in the Republican primaries!Trump defeated Hillary--even thought the election was rigged!
Trump defeated the Mueller investigation and the coup d'état collaborators and the greatest, most powerful, most wide-spread conspiracy in US history--maybe in world history!
Why would anyone bet on anyone else in the 2020 election?????
The problem is that wages are not keeping up with productivity and that has been true for a long, long time.
This why the GOP will never be a true majority party. Productivity without wage growth is the road to socialism.
You’re the fool. Trump is going to win bigly. Stevie Wonder can see this one coming.
LOL! I keep reading your stuff and I don't feel like much of a fool.
Biden is the only one of the Dems in the circular firing squad that could emerge and beat him. He would possibly bring back enough of the Reagan-Democrats to beat Trump in key states. But since the Dems have become the no old white guys need to apply party I don’t see Biden doing well enough.
A candidate of color could win back enough of black and Hispanic voters however
Look at some of the misfits and losers the Democrats have nominated since then. If a much younger version of Joe Biden wasn't a formidable candidate against losers like Mondale, Dukakis and Kerry, then I'm trying to figure out what makes anyone think he's a winner in 2020 at the age of 78.
The GOP seems incapable of understanding that.
Show the compensation figures as they are, but show the productivity measured in terms of productivity per hour for the entire population, not productivity per hour for workers.
I suspect the gap between the productivity and the compensation is the price we're paying for an enormous class of permanently unproductive people.
You’re asking the same questions I am about Biden!
Did he ever break 5% in those past Rat primaries?
The only Rat horses in the race are Bernie, Hellary & maybe Harris. I still say it will come down to Hellary & Bernie.
My money is on Hellary!
That is not the fault of working class Americans. They will give up and the tipping point is coming sooner rather than later.
People need to realize that plan B for democrats is:
Incite a recession
They did it in 2008 when Schumer and frank created the banking crisis.
They must do it again. They will try.
In some ways, maybe it was. "Working class Americans" have had a habit of voting for politicians who ultimately screw them over.
They will give up and the tipping point is coming sooner rather than later.
A lot of them already have. We had more than 70,000 drug overdose deaths in this country last year. That's a staggering number. That's a serious symptom of a sick, dying culture for sure.
