Carriers are dinosaurs that would face almost immediate destruction in a major war. Admiral Rickover said they would last about 48 hours. We would lose the ship, the planes, and the thousands of crewmen.
The battleship admirals didn’t want to give up on their ships, either. In November of 1941 they were still claiming no BB had ever been sunk by airpower.

The Carrier still projects massive American force but the future also is space. Could a Carrier have sufficient counter measures or air/space protection to defend against a hyper sonic missile shot from space? One day Carriers will also be in space.
