I have heard that, but have never seen that it was more than a rumor.

What is worse, to me, is that he appears to be a socialist, leftist, statist, communist sympathizer if not a full blown communist wannabe.

How the hell did he get where he is??? Obama is the obvious answer, but didn’t someone in the approval process object to him???

“...If Cankles was drug(ged) before a grand jury, her handlers would alert the media...”

Then don’t give her the chance TO alert them - Do the “Roger Stone 3am Flashbang Boogie Woogie” on her.

I’d pay to see THAT light show.

Trump knows every angle and he knows how to fight because if you can build a real estate empire in NYC and casinos in NJ, you HAVE TO deal with mafiosi. The biggest difference between the Mafia and the msm/des is that the Mafia doesn’t think they’re the “good guys” and they don’t pretend to be. As for loyalty, that was pretty much out the window until they started bringing in hundreds and hundreds of Sicilians to boost the American Mafia. They are old school and have built a well oiled machine again making billions and billions a year. they are also, to be frank, BRUTALLY ruthless if you get in their way or get involved with them and screw up. Of course it’s “not fair” that construction builders have to kick up and give no show jobs, etc., but “unfair” is a word for children. If you go into construction, expect it at least for now and don’t cry later.

You sound like you know your way around NYC, the Tri-state area, and how things work.

Please allow me to tell a couple of stories, but I just want to say beforehand to anyone listening that I don't admire thugs, murderers, drug deals, or criminals.

When I was a college student at Syracuse, a bunch of us attended the wedding of a friend in North Jersey. The reception was at a very, very nice place.

During the reception, a friend told us that members of the Gambino family were at the wedding. I didn't know much, other than I had heard of that crime family on the news. Well, we were young, stupid, loud, and drunk. My roommate put bread in cheeks and started to do a Don Corleone impression, and we all clapped and joined in.

A man, with a very thick mustache, came over with a big smile on his face. He put his large hands on our shoulders, and asked us if we were having a good time. When we told him we did, he said, "Dat's good, because....I want you. To Shut. Youse f_cking mouths."

For a split second, I thought he was joking, but quickly realized he was dead serious. That made an impression on me that I would remember years later.

So, years later I am a military pilot flying between Europe and the Middle East regularly. There were certain countries and bases we would stop over to unload cargo, refuel, and get some rest. One was Sigonella Naval Air Station in Sicily.

We used to regularly stay at a lovely hotel there, and we got to know the manager (Salvatore, but we called him "Salvo") really well and we were friends. We used to give him patches and other military things, but one trip we decided to give him a flight jacket, and had a name tag made for him. After that, no matter how late we arrived (if he knew we were coming) he would have the kitchen staff prepare something and he would open up a bottle of something from the bar.

On one trip, we pulled into the hotel and noticed people everywhere, and cars everywhere. We went to the front desk to check in, and Salvo told us there was a very important wedding reception taking place that evening. He was invited as well, and he said he really wanted us to come to the reception. I told him we didn't know anyone and it would be right, but he insisted.

Afterward we went to our rooms and showered. Some of the crew were drinking Crown Royale and playing cards in one of the rooms. I went there and told them Salvo wanted us to go down to the reception in the hotel ballroom, but most didn't want to go. I then said that we had all agreed to go, and if we didn't go it would have shown great disrespect to Salvo, so we went. The problem was, we were horribly under dressed. The best clothes we had were khaki pants, jeans, and polo shirts. We also stood out like sore thumbs, being Americans and military.

Salvo introduced us to everyone, and the reception was like something out of a Hollywood film. Food. Wine. Beautiful women. Men in beautiful suits. Music. Flowers. Dancing.

Salvo literally dragged us to a corner, where an imposing man, impeccably dressed, sat at a table. He was surrounded by people. He greeted us with a smile, but you could feel danger, and power, in his presence. The first time I saw the actor who played Joe Masseria in the HBO series Boardwalk Empire, I had to re-watch the scene, because that character reminded me of this man I met in Sicily. Of course, we were introduced as Salvo's "friends from America." That man looked me over up and down, smiled, and said, "I ah speakah English." Everyone around him nodded in approval and admiration. Then he said, "America! Landa opportunity, no?!"

I didn't know what to say at first, but I wanted to be respectful. So I said, "People say that sir, yes. Thank you. And here in wonderful Sicily, you have the most friendly people, great food, and beautiful women."

I don't know why I included the "women" thing, and I regretted saying it almost immediately. Someone was translating for him in his ear, I guess just to make sure there were no problems communicating, and he listened to my words translated again. He looked at me surprised and puzzled for second, and my heart stopped. Then, he smiled a huge toothy grin, pinched my cheek, and laughed loudly. Everyone then laughed as well.

Well, then we all drank, danced, and laughed. Some of the guys started to hit on the Sicilian women, which bothered me at first (I didn't want any trouble), but everyone was well lubricated and by then no one really seemed to care.

The next day, I asked Salvo, "Who was that guy you introduced us to last night?"

Salvo looked at me like I just made a pass at his mother and said, "Important man! Very important man."

Sounds like good times.

And the guy who told you to shut up, it sucks but it’s better off listening JUST IN CASE because if he was anybody important in that world he would get his crew to try to do damage to you and your friends because guys like that are A##HOLES.

My mom is from Sicily. Salvatore sounds like a great guy :)

But Sicilian mobsters are more vicious than any russian or MS13 character THINKS he is.

My friend is a lawyer who represented Gotti Jr. in his fourth mistrial. He has a number of restaurants and Gotti eats at some of them. I’ve met him. Seems like an OK guy.

And I’ll leave it at that.

As far as respect, they’re pieces of #### a lot of the time and YOU command respect for having been a Pilot in the US Air Force.

I did a number of petty crimes (theft and some other small ####) in my late teens and 20s and had to kick a few bucks to whoever was above me.

My uncle was best man to Carmine Persico, the head of the Columbo family, who recently died.

My uncle got me out of some big trouble 2 or 3 times when other wiseguys wanted to get me for whatever. Uncle would call their big guy and then the older men would decide what would be and we kids had to abide by it.

I’d trade the whole ####ing lot in for one Patriotic American Airman such as yourself.

I wanted SO MUCH to be them when I was young.

Until I realized the whole respect only applied when it didn’t get in the way of money or power.

then it went out the window.

Guys laughing about kicking old men down stairs. Willing to kill someone because they cut them off in a car.

The only big shot or hero in my stories and yours, is you.

Thank you for your service.

Thanks for the kind words. I don't deserve those nice things you said, but I sure do appreciate it.

You sound like you know people who were close to those in "The Life." Your correct, it's not like (most) Hollywood films that focus on the "honor" part. There isn't honor among those who are psychopaths. I saw an interview with a former cop who said Goodfellas was probably the most realistic portrayal of mob life.

Did your mom every get to go back to Sicily to visit? It is a beautiful place. When I was returning from the horrible hell hole that is most of the Islamic Middle East, going back to a place like Sicily or other parts of Europe was like breathing again after holding your breath. I hated the Muslim nations. Even the rich ones like Bahrain, UAE, and Saudi had this dark, almost spiritually dark, presence. It's hard to describe.

I lived in Europe later in my career with my family (Germany). When our kids were young, my wife and I took them to Rome, Milan, and Florence. I was in awe of the architecture, the history, and the art. There I was, starring at the Statue of David, and my little ones were tugging at my sleeves, whining that they wanted to go back to the hotel to go swimming.

I got to Venice as well (my wife was not with me), and fell in love with the place. One time in Sicily, me and buddy rented a car and drove to the top of Mount Etna. They sell a liquor there called "Etna Fire Water."

You cannot imagine how potent this stuff is. Pour it on a house, and the whole thing would go up in flames.

Take care my friend! And thanks.

Mom and myself have been to Sicily.

Dad was from Naples.

Sounds like great times seeing Italy :)

Sounds like DESPAIR, the middle east. Kind of spooky.

Looks like a GREAT drink!

“Are there any similarities between the years leading up to Civil War 1 and the present time? I’m sure there were Americans in 1850 who thought a civil war was unlikely, just as today few Americans can fathom the idea, but Senators were openly brawling in the Capitol leading up to Civil War 1. From Decimus,

You could see it coming.

In 1850 two senators draw pistols on each other on the floor of the Congress.

In 1856 Sen. Brooks of South Carolina nearly beats Sen Sumner of Massachusetts to death with a cane. While Sumner is beaten Sen. Keitt holds the rest of the Senate at bay with a pistol.

By 1858 there are is a huge 30 person brawl.”

In reality, what is most likely is that next week Trump will make a “Let’s put this all behind us, and work together to help the American People”. And the Democrats will see that as total capitulation, and they will be right. I hope I’m wrong, but I doubt it.

The 1856 Brooks-Sumner incident was not between two Senators. Sumner was a Senator, Preston Brooks was a House member, as was Laurence Keitt, both from South Carolina.

Sumner precipitated the event by insulting Brooks’s cousin, the Senator from South Carolina, Andrew Butler. He did so when Butler was absent from the body, which was considered bad form, as Butler could not answer the epithets thrown at him. Sen. Stephen Douglas watched Sumner’s tirade and remarked his mouth was going to get him killed.

Contrary to what some recall, Brooks didn’t just burst in when it was going on. Someone first informed him of the insult to his cousin and Brooks, in his cousin’s absence, debated upon how to respond with friends. As Sumner was considered the lowest life-form imaginable to most Southerners, challenging him to a duel was out. Dueling was for gentlemen. Brooks settled upon beating Sumner like a rabid dog.

Two days later, Brooks, with 2 other House colleagues, marched over to the Senate, when Sumner was spotted there. Brooks told him the score and using his gutta-percha walking stick, he walloped the warmongering Yankee until the stick broke. His intention was not to kill him, just to beat him within an inch. Brooks’s colleague, Keitt, held off anyone trying to come to Sumner’s aid during the corporal punishment with a pistol. Brooks actually injured himself as the stick struck him when it bounced off Sumner.

It, of course, became an instant flash point for the country (frankly, I think Sumner instigated on purpose because he expected it would incite violence upon his person - he did more to get the war started and to divide the nation than almost any other political figure to that point). Sumner took 3 years to recuperate, by which time the war was about to start. Sen. Butler, the subject of the insult, died the following year.

Faced with expulsion, both Reps. Brooks and Keitt resigned from the House. Brooks became an instant hero in the South and received countless gutta-percha sticks to replace his broken one. Both he and Keitt ran in the special elections caused by their own resignations and handily won. However, Brooks became ill with the croup (usually a baby’s illness) and died just 8 months after his beating of Sumner. Keitt would die in battle in the Civil War. Sumner remained in the Senate until his death 18 years later, and still suffered the effects of the beating.

BTW, it was Keitt that precipitated the 1858 brawl that involved some 50 House members, after he got in a verbal altercation with PA Congressman Galusha Grow (later Speaker). Apparently, it only came to an abrupt halt when the toupe of MS Congressman William Barksdale got knocked off in the fracas, and when he grabbed for it to put it back on, he set it backwards, which caused the entire body to break out in laughter.

I think I’d clean house on the media first. Just get rid of the commies in the media, schools, unions, government agencies and anywhere else they have wormed their way into.

“...In 1850 two senators draw pistols on each other on the floor of the Congress....”

Hmm ... not a bad idea. Since the dems hate guns so much, we could make the dem senator hold a “Hate Has No Home Here” sign, and use his/her/Ze/Zir/It’s “Righteous Anger” as a weapon to “Speak Truth To Power”.

The GOP senator, of course, would be holding an M1911.

We’ll see who wins that fight.

And we could make them do that 50 times...

#209 - thanks for that historical account. The incident sometimes confused me, as I associated Sen Sumner as the southerner, not a Senator from Massachusetts. I guess my feeble brain always thought “Sumter”, as in Fort Sumter.

One of the best movies where the M1911 is the star of the show... “Last Man Standing”, with Bruce Willis and Christopher Walken...

Twin 1911’s... AND a special guest appearance by the Thompson....
