military exercises on Venezuelan soil that President Nicolas Maduro called a sign of strengthening relations. Two Russian air force planes landed in Venezuela's main airport on Saturday carrying a Russian defense official and nearly 100 troops, according to a local journalist, amid strengthening ties between Caracas and Moscow.
A flight-tracking website showed that two planes left from a Russian military airport bound for Caracas on Friday, and another flight-tracking site showed that one plane left Caracas on Sunday.
Reporter Javier Mayorca wrote on Twitter on Saturday that the first plane carried Vasily Tonkoshkurov, chief of staff of the ground forces, adding that the second was a cargo plane carrying 35 tonnes of material.

Venezuela can be Russia/Russia’s new Afghanistan.
Cuba has cost them billions of rubles so far.
I have a friend in Honduras who is normally on top of this. Have not yet talked about it, but will make my inquiry tonight.
Thanks.
Good observation and prediction.
“Training between Iran and Venezuela has increased in the past few years as part of a larger plan between the Venezuelan regime, consisting of increasing the number of Hezbollah operatives and their supporters across Latin America, Johan Obdola, President of the Canada-based Global Organization for Intelligence (IOSI) and former counter-narcotics chief in Venezuela, told Fox News. (Hassan) Rouhani and (Nicolas) Maduro have established a very firm and close relationship, which was of course initiated by (Hugo) Chavez.
Venezuelas connections to Iran and by default its proxy militia, Hezbollah go back more than a decade. Hezbollah, which translates to The Party of God, is an Iran-backed, Shiite-dominant political and military group that began in Lebanon in 1982, following the Israeli occupation. It was designated a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S State Department in 1997.
But perhaps most crucially, according to analysts and experts, is that Iran and Hezbollah are said to provide strategic advice to the Venezuelan regime for safe keeping.

Trump could probably collapse the whole shebang if he had an aircraft carrier battle group just perform an exercise in nearby waters. However, I suspect he won’t do that without cause because there is literally nothing there of interest to the United States. Also, the Russians, Chinese and Cubans are throwing good money after bad. As Venezuela collapses, it becomes less a prize and more a burden to whoever is trying to prop them up.
Just read almost the same story in El Colombiano..Medellin.
But they went on to state how Chaves and Maduro have been dependent on Russian military aid
Unfortunately Roadcat posted this in a quote previously and it doesn’t sound good if true. We don’t send our chief of staff of ground troops on military humanitarian flights. Someone of his caliber would only be there to oversee a serious personnel deployment.

[Venezuela is tight with Iran]
Oh yeah. This should end well.
*** Hope they like drinking sewer water. :) ***
You know that was debunked, right?
Wait until they get a load of operating in a tropical jungle. Right out of the box this is going to be pretty rough for Russians.
At least an airbase and a port to let them know we are close and keeping a good eye on them.
Mine the Darian Gap ....... Build a new base on Grenada and a deep water port. (maybe open a medical school) ..... < / sarcasm >

For $200.00, What is the Monroe Doctrine?
Awww beat by a few seconds....
Be too bad if a couple of AMRAAM missiles were being tested over the Atlantic, as the planes left. Someplace nice and deep...
Thank you, let us all know please?
I will, but may or may not know exactly what is happening. I’ll find out.
The Monroe Doctrine was a United States policy of opposing European colonialism in the Americas beginning in 1823. ... At the same time, the doctrine noted that the U.S. would recognize and not interfere with existing European colonies nor meddle in the internal concerns of European countries.
Just donate the money to FR. :-)
Been there done that. smile.
I don’t really think Russia wants to provoke USA.
Nor do I think Trump wants to provoke Russia. But Trump does not bluff. Putin knows that.
