Europeans see Germany's global role on the rise: Pew study
Deutsche Welle ^ | 03.20.2019 | Lewis Sanders IV

In a survey published late Tuesday by the Pew Research Center, nearly half of all respondents in 10 EU member states said Germany plays a more important role in the world that it did a decade ago.

“There is a sense in Europe that while German power is on the rise, French and British power is stagnant or in decline,” the center said.

The view across Europe:

… An average of 62 percent of respondents said the EU is out of touch with its citizens. A majority held this view in eight of the ten countries polled.

Only those in Germany (49 percent) and Poland (42 percent) saw the situation differently. …

The French said it was for peace, but the Germans enlisted them in their adventures...

French canon fodder for German invasion of England, once again...

Those that don’t know history (like you apparently) are doomed to repeat it.

*******************************

And people that live by cliches wonder why life is so confusing.

This ain’t then. The Germans of today aren’t the Germans of yesterday.

The Germans of today can’t even man up enough to keep the arab from raping their women in their own damn homes and streets.

The German’s spine was irreparably broken in the mid 20th century.

Make them stand on their own and they’ll collapse.

And good riddance. We owe Germany nothing but lots of bloodshed and misery.

I like the Yes, Prime Minister explanation on why the English joined: to muck things up. Sir Humphries was no European, unlike Hacker.

They can certainly pay for their own defense - or suffer the consequences of their failure to do so. Its high time we stopped letting them play us for suckers.

Germany has no spine. There are hardly any real men left. Their military is a complete joke. No, they’re not going to suddenly become a military power either. If you haven’t lived there you don’t understand the extent to which that country has been completely and utterly gelded. The only working testacles left there belong to the muslim invaders they’ve let in.

The Germans are PATHETICALLY weak. They are the equivalent o a bunch of soy boys living in mama’s basement.

The only news article I found was from the Japan Times, and it said Germany “could” cut their military spending.

But that is related to NATO and not their own ambitions, take note. Like I said, they want NATO gone so they can move ahead with those.

Do you remember what happened with Molotov-Ribbentrop? Germany and Russia started carving up Eastern Europe between each other. Notice anything similar happening in the wake of Nord Stream 2?

And then what?

Build series of forts on our southern border and use these troops to sure it.

Plus Germany went with wind and solar and it is bankrupting them. Solar only has a chance below 30 deg lat. Even then it is iffy. Wind is a joke too.

Right; they’ve been saying for decades they want a EU military, with heavy overtones of it being under German command, even putting it in the EU treaties, and somehow suddenly they don’t want one now.

Again, the spirit of Molotov-Ribbentrop needs to be looked at here. Ukraine may be yet another cessation to that under the Nord Stream project; after all, they were just fine with letting Crimea go. Perhaps the Baltic States too. Now Poland would be a bridge too far, so keep eyes on that.

Well, don’t forget John Kerry’s wonderful declaration of the Monroe Doctrine being “over”. If the EU does become a military superpower, they’ve already got eyes on Central and South America, initially via Mercosur (following the EU pattern). Red China has been making very similar inroads there themselves. Both have been aiding the invasion of illegals across the border you’re referring to. We’ve never had to fight such a war so close to our soil; we’ve always gone abroad.

Barely three months ago the headlines were:

German Army Considers Recruiting Foreign Citizens

According to a leaked report, it discussed adding large numbers of foreigners between the ages of 18 and 40 to the Bundeswehr, in a variety of roles. In particular, it suggested that the nearly two million Poles, Italians and Romanians already living in Germany would make good candidates.

You’re right - Germany was successfully neutered and, while some may talk big, they’re useless as a screen door on a submarine.

What do you think the Gilets Jaunes uproar is all about? Macron is dead meat with the very people who elected him. Dismiss Marine Le Pen at your peril. After years of marginality under her father, she has made great inroads. Le Front Nationale has a new face. Pay attention to it. The youngsters are.
Germany building an army is a joke. They are only good for peacekeeping missions with the UN wearing a blue helmet. They’re not allowed to serve in a war zone where things may get a bit hot. Germany, The Netherlands and Slovenia have how many aircraft carriers?

That doesn’t mean the person who replaces Macron gets France out from under Germany’s thumb. And the yellow vests are not about Germany’s dominance at all; none of them have mentioned that.

And again, thanks for your opinion with respect to something that Germany has done twice in the past to the world’s detriment. In both of those cases, it took a certain kind of leadership to show it off to the world, and there is no way that the current second-largest arms exporter on the planet would be incapable of it. Not to mention, our enemies have been working on aircraft-carrier-destroying technology.

Y Germany was successfully neutered and, while some may talk big, they’re useless as a screen door on a submarine.ou have shown your ignorance of the French people quite clearly. You choose to ignore circumstances which existed in each case of German aggression which do not exist now. I am a student of history and that does not mean I just skim the surface of actions and reactions, but that I have in-depth knowledge of the “before” and “after” of what I study. You obviously have small regard for the French and an incongruous attitude with regard to the Germans. The German of today is far removed from the Prussians of yesteryear and indeed resembles in no regard the Wehrmacht of the last war. There WILL BE carriers regardless of the technology you tout so highly. We, the USA have more carriers than the rest of the world combined and most importantly, we have real sailors to man them and a real strength in Air Force, Navy, and Marine Pilots. REALITY is that we outgun the rest of the world and need have no fear of the strawman threats you seem to give so much credence to.
Your dismissal of the yellow vests shows your shortsighted appreciation of the underlying causes, which are MULTIPLE, that promulgate the unrest which is spreading across borders in Europe and has also gained a foothold in the British Isles.
A “certain kind of leadership” goes nowhere without the proper economic conditions to feed and sustain it. That should be considered FIRST. A content people do not make war.

Well, as long as I get replies with opinion posted as fact, I cannot hold regard. Particularly when the Germans get bellicose in regards to the Trump administration.

I am not dismissing the yellow vests; I am pointing out that their energy is not anti-German.

The European Union rules by crisis. It’s their way of using the normal people. Its rulers are quite insulated from their troubles, and their imperialistic plans are proceeding apace in spite of blanket denials. Never underestimate anyone.

Then what? Then they defend themselves and we use the money to protect OURSELVES...

Maybe we can ‘go extreme’ and protect our own borders for once.. That would be a nice change.

I agree with the sentiment of protecting our own borders (the CBP ought to draft all of the Congressional Democrats to aid personally), but no, the EU does not deserve to “defend” itself right now due to their military ambitions. And like I noted in other posts, the EU elites always ruled by crisis to keep its citizens off their footing while they execute those ambitions; they don’t care about the Mahometan influx since they engineered it and are not affected by it. And indeed, the only purpose of a united Europe was and is to be an antagonist of the USA.

There were reports earlier this month that the German military is now going to keep their military readiness secret. This country has a history of rearming rapidly under such secrecy, so keep watching that.
