Deep-State Dumpster Fire
Steyn Online ^ | 23 Mar 2019 | Mark Steyn

Late yesterday afternoon, there was a livelier than usual Friday-night news-dump, when the Attorney-General of the United States announced that Robert Mueller had wrapped up his "Russia investigation" and there would be no further indictments.

For two years, the prefatory "Russia" has been intended to give the word "investigation" more heft, to make it seem as if there was something more than let's-get-Trump-on-anything. But even the unlimited resources of a wretchedly corrupt federal justice system couldn't keep that going without something more than Michael Cohen's taxi medallions (only in America) and a few Russian troll farms, one of whom has amusingly decided to push back in court against Mueller and his showboating cronies.

Other than that, there are, as I said almost two years ago, no Russians in the Russia investigation - and what foreign "interference" with the 2016 election there was from Russia seems to have been amateur and minimal, unless you count MI6 spook Christopher Steele working his Moscow Rolodex on behalf of Hillary Clinton and her Deep State allies. There was, however, extensive domestic interference with the election, in that at the behest of the sitting administration the most powerful figures in the permanent bureaucracy set to work on a sophisticated surveillance operation against its political opposition: "Republics" in the Americas have been invariably prefaced by the qualifier "banana"; it just took Washington a little longer to sign up.

WHERE did Steele REALLY get the Golden Showers story..?

From 4chan.

I have heard that before, and would love to be able to examine the source. The only problem is that a venture into 4chan leaves a stink that is very pernicious. The last time I (accidentally) followed a link to 4chan, I could not close the browser fast enough: my eyes were polluted within seconds.

——domestic subversion of the election-—

Savor those words.

The implication of domestic is the concept of conspiracy. That would be conspiracy to overthrow the government and that is treason and sedition

Heads must roll.....literally

(I don’t care if it hurts)

The media were salivating into buckets at the prospect of pulling off another Nixon lynching and now, alas for ambition, it isn't going to happen.

Steyn is correct about his final conclusion, too: if nothing happens to the perpetrators of this multi-million dollar bedroom farce then they'll certainly do it again, next time more carefully.

I've often wondered what kind of political landscape we'd have now if Nixon would have stood up and defended himself instead of buckling. I can't know, but sometimes I think that we would not now be subjected to endless witch hunts every time we have a non-socialist president, especially one who is not a member of the self-appointed aristocracy.

Does anyone remember, they tried this with Reagan, too? There was a special counsel appointed, which (IIRC) continued throughout his presidency.

Perhaps he is reviewing the report before tweeting?

He hasn’t tweeted anything today.

I am just concerned why Trump has been silent and not tweeted yet.

Simple! He has an AG whom he trusts and the dems have set their tent on fire and Frau Mueller has thrown gasoline on it.

Relax and enjoy the sounds of liberals screaming and shouting as their plans of sedition are going down the drain.

Brennan for sure.

Classic CIA operation. Initiate an operation and then leave it to others to finish and don't leave any fingerprints.

Thanks.

We know why the Trump Haters on FR hate it when President Trump destroys their pay masters/ Deep State’s mediots with well chosen and targeted Tweets.

Has any Deep Stater, GOPe thug/Troll really succeeded after a targeted Tweet from President Trump?

Steyn is correct about his final conclusion, too: if nothing happens to the perpetrators of this multi-million dollar bedroom farce then they'll certainly do it again, next time more carefully. Entire institutions from the FISA court to the NSA, CIA, and FBI have failed their charges and need to have their cover of secrecy torn off and their crimes exposed to the people they betrayed.

I have reached a completely different conclusion.

I said months ago that we are entering an era of an entirely different type of political campaign for the White House.

Presidential candidates will now contend for the White House with a massive intelligence and counter-intelligence operation in place before they even announce their candidacy. This operation will rival the capabilities of national governments -- including ours. The whole purpose of this intelligence infrastructure will be to detect and thwart the very type of operation we saw carried out against Trump.

If that sounds outlandish, I'll offer something else that may astonish a lot of folks:

I suspect this already happened in 2016 with the Trump campaign. It was a big reason why he won.

“Almost no reporter mentions the 4chan angle cuz it makes the left seem completely STUPID:”

I find that funny as hell.

Should Obama ultimately go to jail?
Nixon didn’t. Obama didn’t attempt to stay in office - at least, not via a coup - so there’s that.

From that perspective, we thank God for favors we like to take for granted. And don’t worry overmuch about his perfidy in office, now he is gone.

But it looks like he is guilty as sin.

But a great many people in America think he’s a good guy. Why? I can only quote Adam Smith:

The natural disposition is always to believe. It is acquired wisdom and experience only that teach incredulity, and they very seldom teach it enough. The wisest and most cautious of us all frequently gives credit to stories which he himself is afterwards both ashamed and astonished that he could possibly think of believing. - Theory of Moral Sentiments, (1759)
