It is just freaking unbelievable there are people still thinking this way in 21th century.
If it was in Russia or Germany in 1920s I could understand why do they think so but it is freaking 21th century and a first world society which didn’t just come through all out war and economic collapse and they still don’t like ‘capitalism’ and want socialism instead.
And the worst of all of this the kid is not the only one. There are scores of Marxists around.

To stop any socialism talk, just simply ask them to explain the implementation of socialism, specifically to have the “power” controlled by the “workers” or the “people” rather than a governing body.

Not possible.

The biggest issue these kids have is, they don’t live in reality. Start with the Occupy Wall St crowd. Let me first say, that I think the folks on Wall St are nothing but scum of the earth. I digress....We all saw these kids taking to the streets, not even knowing what they’re protesting. Saw old hippies protesting, not even knowing what they’re protesting.

What are they wearing and holding....iPhones, iPads, Samsung Galaxies, North Face, Arcteryx, Mountain Hardware, Marmot. Hardly folks that are in distress.

Go to any Phish, Widespread Panic, Trey Anastasio, etc, concert and drive through the parking lots where the tailgating is going on. Bunch of rich kids pretending to be hippies.

“It is just freaking unbelievable there are people still thinking this way in 21th century.”

It is a historical fact that if you wait around long enough, anything will come back in style.

But I have to smile when this sheep makes the correlation that the reason socialism didn’t work is because it was tried in backward countries. Did he ever wonder why it was tried in a backward country? And did he ever consider that if it had such a large following in the small country, why didn’t it work there working with a less complex country? Thus how could it possibly help a super power other than drain it to the level of a backward country slower than the small country did as it has not worked anywhere it has been tried? He’s either got his hand out or he’s less intelligent than dirt.

Thank you for this. I just forwarded it on. I have a family member I am worried about being in a relationship with one of these ‘blinded’ people. The young man was indoctrinated in school and college, of course.

Something Vladimir should have zeroed in on:

"We have an advanced society (unlike Venezuela)"

Yeah, kid how did we get that way? Where did that "advanced society" come from? If socialism is so wonderful, why isn't it magically converting Venezuela into an "advanced society" right now?

It is of a sort of religious matter. All their explanations are known and logically challenged but they still repeat their mantras that any socialism tried before wasn’t genuine. Just give them another chance.

Not possible.

From Wikipedia:
The iron law of oligarchy is a political theory, first developed by the German sociologist Robert Michels in his 1911 book, Political Parties. It asserts that rule by an elite, or oligarchy, is inevitable as an "iron law" within any democratic organization as part of the "tactical and technical necessities" of organization.

Michels's theory states that all complex organizations, regardless of how democratic they are when started, eventually develop into oligarchies. Michels observed that since no sufficiently large and complex organization can function purely as a direct democracy, power within an organization will always get delegated to individuals within that group, elected or otherwise.

Using anecdotes from political parties and trade unions struggling to operate democratically to build his argument in 1911, Michels addressed the application of this law to representative democracy, and stated: "Who says organization, says oligarchy.” He went on to state that "Historical evolution mocks all the prophylactic measures that have been adopted for the prevention of oligarchy.”

It follows that the drive to organize (Socialists like to say “plan”) is de facto a drive towards oligarchy. “Democratic Socialists” are naive about democracy as a decision making process. Socialists are naive about government, and cynical about society:
SOME writers have so confounded society with government, as to leave little or no distinction between them; whereas they are not only different, but have different origins.
Society is produced by our wants, and government by our wickedness;

the former promotes our happiness POSITIVELY by uniting our affections, the latter NEGATIVELY by restraining our vices.

The one encourages intercourse, the other creates distinctions.

The first is a patron, the last a punisher.

Society in every state is a blessing, but Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one . . .
For were the impulses of conscience clear, uniform and irresistibly obeyed, man would need no other lawgiver; but that not being the case, he finds it necessary to surrender up a part of his property to furnish means for the protection of the rest . . . — Thomas Paine, Common Sense (1776)
Socialism is the fatuous assumption that people who did not even attempt to “build that” can sustainably operate and maintain “that”- in the face of changing conditions - more usefully to society than the people who did “build that” can. And that “that” is the last word, and society will always need the products of “that” - and will never need any further examples of “building that” in the future.

I, Pencil is an article written in 1958 by Leonard E. Read. The burden of the article is how diffuse are the inputs to make a simple item like a pencil. Of course a particular company - Eberhard Faber, in the example instance - made the pencil. But Mr. Faber did not simply speak the pencil into existence; the company has to have buildings housing machinery, and workers to operate the machines. But beyond that, the Eberhard Faber workers have to have food, shelter, and normal amenities - including those required by their families.

And the same is true of the vendors who supply Eberhard Faber with the machinery they require, and all the obvious materials - wood, graphite, rubber, and the ferrule material and the enamel. All those vendors have their own equipment, workers, and supply chain. And in all cases the workers need food, shelter, and normal amenities. So although the pencil certainly does not exist without Eberhard Faber (now part of PaperMate), society works together to make pencils - and everything else.

These fools want the businesses to be owned and run by the workers. I would ask them, who is stopping them from starting a business and turn it over to the workers? Instead of uselessly wasting their energies marching up and down, why don’t they use them to create thousands of mini worker’s paradises?

He’s got a ton of similar videos on YouTube. I just discovered him yesterday.

Be careful though, it can be addicting. I must have spent three hours watching them last night!
