Morning Joe: Jimmy Carter's Failures 'Beyond His Control, Fell on His Shoulders'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 03/22/2019 8:52:04 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Given that Mika Brzezinski's late father Zbigniew served as Jimmy Carter's national security adviser, you knew that Morning Joe would go out of its way to celebrate Carter on the occasion of his becoming the oldest living former President.

And sure enough, on today's show, Joe Scarborough glorified Carter as an "extraordinary human being, a wonderful man," working in a gratuitous swipe at President Trump by adding, "just a great contrast with, unfortunately, what we're struggling through right now." Scarborough commended Carter for Camp David, and even claimed that his support for human rights contributed to the fall of the Iron Curtain.

But the show took things an unpardonable step too far by absolving Carter for his multiple failures. First, Scarborough claimed that the Iranian hostage crisis and the oil crisis were "beyond his control." A bit later, Scarborough claimed that Carter's 1980 loss to Reagan wasn't due to his own failed leadership, but to Democrats' past mistakes that "fell on his shoulders." Poor Jimmy.

I was in the coal mining business when Jimmah Cahtah got his walking papers.
I can’t tell you how pleased we were....

Agree. Carter didn’t intentionally try to hurt the US like bammy did. He was in over his head.

Mika Brzezinski

I saw her today at the reception
A glass of wine in her hand
I knew she was gonna meet her connection
At her feet was a footloose man.

Revisionist history, it’s what leftists do. Unfortunately, we have an irredeemably ignorant public, and an evil media/establishment politician structure.

Yup. For too much of our population 1979 may just as well have been 3500 B.C. Recorded history began sometime during the Clinton Administration.

Making excuses for Jimmuh is an old game for the leftists. While he was still in office, the papers took to musing that the presidency had become too big and complicated for "just one man."

Oddly, that line of thinking vanished after Reagan was elected.

Like when the Shah wouldn’t pay Carter a $2 billion bribe so Carter gave the country to Muslim terrorists?

Joe Scarborough glorified Carter as an "extraordinary human being, a wonderful man,"
...y'know, because Carter hates Israel and hates Jews.

Hey Joe——Can you explain the 3 CONSECUTIVE Bankruptcies that Carter filed when running his peanut farm???

3 THREE !!! Who set him up for that?

There are people in the USA who are functionally illiterate who can run a farm.

But NOT Carter !!!!

I’m sure Joe characterized himself that way right after the dead intern showed up in his congressional office.

Don’t the media usually wait until a person is DEAD before foisting lies of grandeur and dismissing all of their faults on a politician, a la McCain and Bush Senior? Oh, that’s right, Carter is a Democrat, never mind...the media actually believe their own lies and bullsh!t when it comes to the idiots of the Democrat party!

I’ve been pointing out for some time now that the 1970s were going to be bad no matter who was in office. The roots of this went back to WW2 when significant portions of the rest of the industrialized world got bombed ... some of it with our help.

During the war we greatly expended our industrial capacity but for many things the emphasis was not on innovation but tried and true and so we left the war with a industries full of fully intact, physically young but in many cases technologically dated physical plants.

These had to go through normal economic attrition before being updated.

Meanwhile those we’d bombed rebuilt with the latest innovations. These helped to fuel their economic miracles.

In short, WW2 put different nations out of sync with each other on the normal cycles of economic attrition and modernization.

In the 1970s American industries that had labored on far longer than they should have because, in part, during the mid to late 60s the growth of government gobbled up some of the available credit to spend on upgrades, finally spent the needed money which helped to launch the 1980s even as, for example, Japan started its own period of retooling.

Yes, Carter did some things that made it worse than it was going to be ... but not that much worse than it was going to be.

Also you need to recall that Jimmy Carter was at odds with the McGovernites who had swept into the operations of the DNC in 1972 ... he actually represented a last dying gasp of the old pre-McGovern Democrats pushing back before some of those finally left to become Reagan Democrats and then just conservative Christian Republicans.

The stars were aligned against Carter and, to be frank, Jimmy wasn’t really up to the job.

If only he’d have stayed doing what he was doing before the ultra corrupt Clinton Administration had afforded Nixon the opportunity to reform his reputation ... but Carter, who loathed Nixon by all accounts, seemingly couldn’t stand being on the side lines where he was at least doing some good but had to jump back in and immediately started screwing up stuff worse than he ever did as President.

Thousands of our troops have paid with life, limb and all manner of combat injuries because we are *still* cleaning up carters shah fiasco. 911 would have never happened without Cartwr.

Morning Joe: Jimmy Carter's Failures 'Beyond His Control, Fell on His Shoulders'

Horse manure.

Carter was a pro commie shill that threw away the most Pro American/American Policy Monarchy in the Eastern Hemisphere.

He is entirely responsible for what Muslim Terrorist Nuclear Iran is today.

We could have had the United States of America, Middle East Division, run by Persian Capitalists.

Jimmah Carter is personally responsible for every Iranian Terrorist Act and Murder.
