Instead of Criticizing McCain, Trump Should Embrace Kindness, Humility
The Daily Signal ^ | March 21, 2019 | Cal Thomas

Posted on 03/22/2019 4:41:39 AM PDT by Tolerance Sucks Rocks

President Donald Trump made a rare appearance at a church last Sunday. It’s a safe bet the sermon was not based on Proverbs 15:1—”A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” If it was, it didn’t appear to have much effect.

Before and after church, the president engaged in a tweet storm that insulted several people, including the late Sen. John McCain.

Trump accuses McCain of being complicit in the leak of the Steele dossier, a private intelligence report compiled by former MI6 officer Christopher Steele for the political research firm Fusion GPS, which, among other things, alleges that in Moscow Donald Trump booked ” … the presidential suite of the Ritz Carlton Hotel, where he knew President and Michelle Obama (whom he hated) had stayed on one of their official trips to Russia,” and, while in the company of prostitutes, defiled the bed.

According to Newsweek, ” … major parts of the dossier have been verified by subsequent investigations into Russian election meddling.” Trump’s behavior at the Ritz Carlton in Moscow, however, remains unverified.

The president referred to McCain as “last in his class at Annapolis.” This was too much for McCain’s daughter, Meghan, who said on “The View” that the president is leading “a pathetic life,” adding, “He spends his weekend obsessing over great men, because he knows it, and I know it, and all of you know it, he will never be a great man.”

This is the problem with insults and anger. They invite similar responses. Nothing is affected by harshness, except a general degrading of the office and of the people who shoot rhetorical arrows at others.

Pipi Longstockong was the bad a** daughter of a pirate captain who could lift a horse with one hand.
I would not use her as an example of weakness.

What you have is Trump who’s rough on the outside, and a bunch of powerful politicians who are preach kindness and gentleness but on the inside are power grabbers trying to grab power by deception.

The experienced politician told the newly elected one: the secret to success in politics is dignity and sincerity. As soon as you learn how to fake those, your success is assured.

I can understand those that think it’s bad to criticize someone that has died.

But Trump is my man and I give him the benefit of the doubt.

When a left-wing Bernie supporter shot up Republicans practicing baseball, almost killing Steve Scalise, Paul Ryan rushed to the cameras to proclaim James Hodgkinson did NOT represent Democrats... or Bernie supporters. He played the Christian boy scout that Cal Thomas would admire.

And how did democrats pay us back?

When a shooter in New Zealand murdered people - NOT ONE DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN STEPPED UP TO SAY THE KILLER DIDN'T REPRESENT A WHOLE GROUP.

Nope, we got blamed for a nutcase halfway around the world...

So Cal Thomas, I'm thankful President Trump stands up for all of us rather than rolling over to wallow in his own "boy scout" glory.

McCain worked with democrats, he carried water for Hillary and he was a mean vindictive loser. Trashing Palin after using her to get votes he didn't deserve. Yes, McCain was a hero many years ago - and he deserves respect for that. But that doesn't give him a pass for the rest of his life. In his senior years the was a 'hero' to the left because he was 'johnnie on the spot' if a Republican was needed to trash a Republican.

I'm thankful we finally have someone who will tell the truth rather than play twelve year old 'boy scout'... for his own glorification. And Cal, Jesus threw the money changers out of the Temple - HE chose to offend the established 'elite' of HIS day...

Cal Thomas does have a real point here. Repeatedly blasting McCain, only keeps his image in the news. Better to ignore him from now on and let the McCain name die out from disinterest.

It would also shut up Meghan McCain who will always defend her father, as is a natural thing to do.

John McCain is no longer on earth, and I, for one, do not miss him. He proved to be a petty man. Trump should not follow McCain into a petty existence.

mclame was/is a traitor. He supported and distributed a false "dossier" in an attempt to overthrow a duly and legally elected President. TRAITOR. This is multiplied by the Keating Five situation, his being referred-to a "songbird" by his fellow captives in N Vietnam, his dishonesty on nobamacare, his support of terrorists and so forth. Also, a peek at his character was his referring to his wife as a cunt" in public. Quite a guy. It is good for civil society and for this country that he is rotting and dead.

[snip] When John McCain ran for president, Democrats didn’t praise his bipartisanship. Rep. John Lewis, (D-Ga.), who now praises McCain in death, said during his 2008 campaign that McCain’s campaign rallies reminded him of those for the segregationist Alabama Governor George Wallace, a Democrat by the way. Lewis later claimed his remarks were “misinterpreted,” which is hard to believe, whether you read them in or out of context.

I’m all for getting along with the “other side,” but that side has to be willing to meet in the middle and give something in return. Democrats don’t do that. Instead, they use the word bipartisan as a weapon, not a tool and too many Republicans have gotten their pockets picked as a result. I do not know the usual size of a class at Annapolis.

However, whether her Dad was 5th from last or LAST, it certainly isn’t much of an achievement. I do not believe that McCain would EVER have been taken into ANY of our military colleges if his father & grandfather hadn’t been so successful in their own military careers.

For those like me with longer memories, I NEVER have found anything to praise McCain for.

Tim McVeigh also served his country honorably in the Gulf War. Does that mean we should not now speak ill of him? How is that different from “hero” John Shitstain?

How many $$$$ of damage & loss did McCain cost the USA taxpayers with his multiple crashes & failures at the stick as a pilot??? How many Navy personnel died when he crashed onto the deck of that aircraft carrier?

He NEVER was 10% s good as either his father or his grandfather. I think he wore that hair shirt his whole life & he also was delusional about how important he was.

Cal, McCain’s story hasn’t been told yet, and I like President Trump for his honesty.

Y’all had your chance to tell McCain’s truths, but you didn’t do your job and gave US gossip and BS instead.

Now, President Trump has to do your job for you by answering the media’s questions about McCain’s integrity honestly and tell US what McCain actually did and didn’t do.

You want President Trump to stop talking about McCain, then stop asking him questions. But me? I want him to talk MORE!!!

The world is hungry for real food, actual TRUTH, not the crappy drive thru junk food and gossip you people are forcing US to eat.
